Rally at Sydney Town Hall, 10am, Saturday September 8

The Stop Bush Coalition has decided to organise a rally at Sydney Town Hall, 10am, Saturday September 8 to protest the APEC meetings.

Come to our open planning meeting for APEC, 7pm, Monday 28th May, University Technology of Sydney, tower building, level 19, room 27. Click here to help us spread the word about the open planning meeting!

Community Action Against Homophobia

We will protest George Bush's visit to Sydney for the APEC conference because we are angry about homophobia and we are angry about AIDS.

In May 2002, Bush representatives at the UN Children's Summit opposed the use of condoms for HIV/AIDS prevention. The Bush administration is withholding tens of millions of dollars from HIV/AIDS programs in Africa and Afghanistan. In 2003 they killed off a World Trade Organisation deal to allow poor countries unable to produce cheap generic AIDS drugs to import these drugs cheaply from coutries other than the US.

Sydney University SRC Endorses Stop Bush Actions

The Sydney University SRC Community must protest the neo-liberal agenda being pushed at the APEC conference, which is being held in Sydney.

Student associations should do all that they can to support the grassroots movement that will be organising the APEC protest and should see this protest as very important.

The SRC endorses the protest planned for September 8 by the Stop Bush Coalition.

Oppose APEC - Canterbury Bankstown NSWTF Federation

This motion was voted on by a Canterbury Bankstown NSWTF Federation meeting

This NSWTF Federation meeting states its opposition to Howard's hosting of APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Forum) in Sydney in September. APEC will be a neo-liberal festival of the ideas of privatisation, structural adjustment and the so called "war on terror" - ideas that are directly opposite those of public education.

Dear friends

As you're probably aware, George Bush will be hosted by John Howard in Sydney in September at the APEC summit. The APEC summit - as well as the unprecedented "security" measures that will be put in place - have already begun to be discussed in the media.

Justice Action supports the protest against George W. Bush APEC Summit which is being held in Sydney in September

As a community-based organisation comprising prisoners, ex-prisoners, lawyers, academics, victims of crime, and community members based in Sydney, we are very aware of the importance of abolishing the death penalty in those countries that still retain it, as well as removing the idea of retribution from the criminal justice system.

Stop The War Coalition organing against Bush in Melbourne

The Melbourne Stop The War Coalition is organising buses to the APEC protests in Sydney in September, and has begun taking
reservations.

The STWC wants to build the largest possible mobilisation against Bush. If you want to help come along to our next meeting on Monday, May 14th May at RMIT 6 30pm near the hub.

If you want to help out, call Marcus on 0406 965 896 or James on 0412 906 978.

Get involved in stopping Bush in Brisbane

Brisbane organising is up and running!

The next organising meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 23rd, 6:30pm at the Trades and Labour Council Building, 16 Peel Street, South Brisbane.

The focus is building a public meeting at the TLC building to launch the APEC campaign in Brisbane in early June. The meeting will include speakers to talk on war, climate change, Workchoices, and why we should protest at APEC. The speakers and date of the meeting are to be confirmed.

For more information, call Lisa 0412 063 699 or Rob 0424 265 730.

The Australia-Venezuela Solidarity Network supports the growing call to Stop Bush!

Last September, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez used a speech to the United Nations General Assembly to describe George W. Bush as "the devil". Chavez was boldly expressing the sentiments of millions of ordinary people who know that Bush stands for deeper neoliberal attacks on the world's peoples and a permanent, worldwide war for money and power.

APEC protest reason to stay

People should stay in Sydney for APEC protests, activists said today. Premier Iemma has said people should leave Sydney for APEC but anti-war protesters and climate change activists are planning large protests targeting George Bush and John Howard.

"Iemma may want to scare people away but we are encouraging people to use the public holiday to be heard by some of the most important government leaders in the world", Pip Hinman said today.

"We are planning a mass protest and walk through the streets to coincide with George Bush's visit."
