
The Code of Virginia lists more than 800 responsibilities of the Clerk, Heidi S. Barshinger, many of which are complex and challenging. The Clerk serves as the recorder of deeds and probate judge, issues marriage licenses and fictitious names, judgments, and is the official court administrator for all civil and criminal court cases. In this latter capacity, the Clerk creates and maintains all court files and records, prepares court orders and jury lists, contacts jurors and issues summons and court processes.

COVID-19
Persons who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 are not required to wear a face mask to enter the courthouse. Those who have not had the Covid vaccine are still required to wear their mask to enter the courthouse.

For any criminal or traffic matters please consult with your attorney or the website for the particular court in which your matter is pending.Courtroom attendance is limited to attorneys, parties, one parent/guardian for a juvenile, necessary witnesses and members of the press.

The Circuit Court Clerk’s Office remains open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm.
We have an information table located outside of our entrance with general information, forms, and a drop box for civil, criminal and probate filings. E-recordings in our Land Record Room are available through Simplifile and CSC. Recordings can also be filed in person between 8:00am and 3:30pm.
We are only taking one customer at a time in our main office and ask that other customers wait in the hall using the 6 foot social distancing recommendation.
We provide hand sanitzers for customers' use and have sanitizing wipes at our public access computers.
We appreciate our customers who are using proper precautions, and we are proud to say that we are here to serve the public and have not curtailed any of our services during the corona virus times.
