“Gutenberg” è un nome in codice per un paradigma completamente nuovo nella costruzione e pubblicazione di siti WordPress, che mira a rivoluzionare l’intera esperienza editoriale tanto quanto Gutenberg ha creato la parola stampata. In questo momento, il progetto è nella prima fase di un processo in quattro fasi che toccherà ogni parte di WordPress – modifica, personalizzazione, collaborazione e multilingua – ed è focalizzata su una nuova esperienza per la modifica, l’editor dei blocchi.

L’editor dei blocchi introduce un approccio modulare a pagine e articoli: ogni parte di contenuto nell’editor, da un paragrafo a una galleria di immagini a una intestazione, è il suo blocco. E proprio come i blocchi fisici, i blocchi di WordPress possono essere aggiunti, disposti e riorganizzati, consentendo agli utenti di WordPress di creare pagine ricche di contenuti multimediali in un modo visivamente intuitivo e senza soluzioni alternative come shortcode o HTML personalizzato.

L’editor dei blocchi è diventato disponibile per la prima volta a dicembre 2018, e stiamo ancora al lavoro per perfezionare l’esperienza, creando molti più blocchi e migliorandoli, e gettiamo le basi per le prossime tre fasi del lavoro. Not much of a help

Gutenberg has some good approaches but unfortunately it usually gets in the way rather than helping you. Examples: If HTML is inserted as html block, it happens often enough that gutenberg tries to display the block not as html but as something else and asks if it should fix the block... it could just leave the block as html block. But really annoying is the habit of embedding absolutely every link. which unworldly person came up with that? since in worpress standard gutenberg per page is not activatable or deactivatable you have to install additional plugins just to be able to insert legal text. The maintenance and creation of pages with gutenberg has become simply impossible in the default.

Five stars for the future

I completely understand the great amount of one-star reviews. After all, people are evaluating what they have at their disposal and this review system wasn't made to evaluate a promise, after all. Fair enough. But this plugin is, by definition, the fickle expression of a long-term vision. A moving target, developed at a fast pace, purposefully in the open. So, it is actually expected that things will break if you use it. They could keep it only on GitHub to get rid of the bad reviews. But they choose not to, so more people could freely express their opinions, experiences, concerns and their constructive criticism, if they choose to be of help. Changing the way content is created on the most used CMS of the planet is no easy feat. The Gutenberg team are capable and move fast, with improvements coming every single day. I've been following the evolution since the first release, and I'm impressed. This tells me that the future holds amazing things. They will get there eventually. For that alone, the plugin surely deserves my five-star rating.

Game changer

Like most users, I had my reservations about the editor when it was released. I continued to use page builders like old times. Recently though, I decided to it a go by building a custom design entirely using the built-in blocks and a couple of custom block sets like Kadence and Getwid. I have to say, I don't miss Divi any more and am actually happier about certain things that Divi never did very well. Plus, the site - front-end as well as the editing UI - is blazing fast!

Best editor

Gutenberg is a clean and easy editor ! It has improved so much for the past 2 years. Start was a bit hard but when get into the hang of it, we can build any page we want, fast and clean. The most important to handle Gutenberg is to forget what we used to do with other editor and try to understand the approach. No way to have a WordPress with an other editor than Gutenberg !

Confused the daylights out of website owner

Basically the message I got was "What is this crap?" somehow Gutenberg reactivated itself and forced her into it to edit a page. I got her out of it and into classic editor and then went and did some plugin adding until the "crap" as she calls it was gone again. Seriously lousy, counter intuitive, and there are much better block editors out there. I'm installing one as back up in case Gutenberg tries to reactivate itself again even though it was disabled. I am explaining to her how to use it to bypass and get back into her backend in case this burp happens a second time. No. She did NOT even want to consider using Gutenberg and I don't blame her. It's like trying to use a WWI tank in a robot war.
