I can’t stand this editor. It is clunky, ugly, unintuitive and hard to use. My clients can’t stand it either. And now, this HORRIBLE editor is part of the widgets area!!!
This is the worst thing to EVER happen to WordPress and will likely be its ultimate downfall. I am already looking for alternative platforms. Sad to say, after making websites with WordPress for over 10 years… it’s time to find something new. Gutenburg is the end of WP 🙁

To be honest, Gutenberg is really hard to use, especially for those who are used to the classic editor. The blocks are too much hassle and very distracting. Plus, it adds unnecessary learning overhead to people who simply want to focus on creating good content.

Like the OP mentioned, I just found out that the widget configuration page is also forced to be displayed as blocks. WordPress should give us a choice to turn off this thing.

Luckily, I managed to fix it using a plugin called “Disable Gutenberg” so I can continue using my WordPress.

Don’t get me wrong, WordPress is still my favorite CMS. But Gutenberg? It’s just not my thing.

Also try Classic Widgets. It restores the old Widgets page.

And I’m thinking more seriously about going for ClassicPress… it’s WordPress when it was still WordPress.

Couldn’t agree more. I don’t understand why they are still forcing it on us when MILLIONS of people clearly hate it.
