Physint's $400 Million Budget Reportedly Debunked With Claims That Xbox Is Building the Game at a 'Fraction' of the Cost
Xbox might have stayed true to it's cost cutting.
Physint's rumoured budget of $400 million was reportedly debunked by insiders from Xbox, who said that the projects between Hideo Kojima and Xbox are being made at a "fraction" of the figure. Recently, Chris Dring of the Game Business Podcast reported that Kojima's game was reportedly signed on for close to half a billion dollars.
However, on Reset Era, Jason Schrier, a reporter for Bloomberg, has claimed that after speaking to firsthand sources from Xbox, who allegedly have direct knowledge of the dealings between Kojima and Xbox, they signed Physint for "significantly less."
Schrier also said that he is hesitant to quote an exact figure for the budget without having actually seen the documentation or talking to multiple sources.

"And there are a lot of different numbers here. There's the number Physint was originally signed for at PlayStation, the number it was approaching, the number that came up during negotiations, the number it would have been with certain A-list actors attached, the number that Xbox agreed to, and the number it will actually cost by the time it comes out," Schrier said.
Jez Corden from Windows Central has also claimed the same about the budget of Physint, quoting a firsthand source from Xbox as well. Corden added, "It has been suggested to me that the '$400 million' figure is potentially what Sony and PlayStation might've been on the hook for until they cancelled the deal"; however, this has not been confirmed either.
Corden also said, "Xbox negotiated a deal with Kojima Productions that includes both movie and TV licences for PHYSINT, and it also included enhanced terms for OD—Kojima's anticipated atmospheric horror game for Xbox."
