Arc Raiders May Not Be Bringing Back the Expeditions Mode At All
"Maybe we'll scrap the whole system altogether."
Arc Raiders may not be bringing back the expedition mode according to a developer at Embark Studios. Last month, Embark announced that it will be putting the expedition mode on a temporary hiatus until early 2027 so that they could make more significant changes to the game mode.
However, In an interview with PCGamesN at Gamescom 2026, executive producer Alexander Grøndal said, "Maybe we'll scrap the whole system altogether. That is on the table, too. Right now, the team is trying to figure out what the next steps for Expeditions are." What will be changed about the system is still undecided and any news about the same will only drop after the next big update Frozen Trail on October 2026 according to the dev.
Expeditions are being removed from the game due to a growing outcry by the fan base due to issues like the tight departure windows, the reward structure, and accessibility for new players. However, Grøndal and the rest of the team have stated that they are listening to public feedback and trying to "tackle some of the biggest pain points" the fans have. Expeditions are set to take the hiatus sometime around the end of September when the fifth Expedition ends.
In other news, Streamer TimTheTatman refused to take a six-figure deal to stream Arc Raiders because of his dislike for the game.
