This book is a major critique of the Trump administration by two experienced and talented reporters. The administration describes America is the land of the free, but it is working 24/7 to turn it into an administration in which we the people are living under a near fascist regime which operates under full coercion power system!

It began as an idea: Project 2025 under tens of thousands of right wing true believers were fed the notion that our constitution was no longer working for the PEOPLE! And the slogan 'The Constitution is not a suicide pact' was introduced to the nation.

Naturally, the movement needed a core leadership to advance and it ha to have an all powerful leader to carry it out. So it takes some kind f gigantic ego to overthrow its government and replace it with an entirely different system. The perfect match was available and was elected POTUS. The electorate was unhappy and voted to install another party's champion. The POTUS - without evidence - that that election had been stolen, a charge that has been repeated for six years,

The people spoke again and returned the leader and a much smaller group which instantly began taking over all levers of power and controlling tightly all elements of power. Fortunately for us the coup was not complete before its terrible weaknesses were laid bare. Instead of a party of peace - as advertised - it became extremely bellicose against allies and rivals alike.

In Trump 47, the inner circle of power became smaller and tighter to the extent that it became a one person power center with a VERY limited insiders making policy.. Unfortunately for the nation, the war like features came to thee fore, and the fatal flaw of fascism was exposed before the coup was complete.

This marvelous book reads almost like a novel and describes in detail how it was all exposed. This is a book when picked up becomes all consuming of one's reading time; it cannot be put down until read through. I reommend it as book that must be read by those who love our country and wish to preserve the republic and the constitution that is its basic law.

I believe truthful look inside the presidency of Donald trump. Thoughtfully written, easy to read, and many questions answered that Americans will want to know about this president. Interesting enough to make me want to finish this book in no time at all. Will gladly read more content from Maggie Handyman and Jonathon Swan.

excellent book. if you are casual political observer, you will be both angry and disappointed in how far our democracy has fallen in the past few years. if you are steeped in political events, you will know many of the stories, but the details and sourcing is superb. Was hard to put down - I read from start to finish over a matter of couple days.

This is definitely a 5 Star book well-written and deeply researched. It will be a guidebook for History in years to come. But I estimate that I already knew 90% of the salient points, so it was in no way a "page turner". If you have meticulously followed online news and non-Fox cable news and rational print news (like the NYT and BBC) for the last 10 years, like I have, then there won't be many new facts for you either.

There were some interesting facts I didn't know (like Netanyahu was the first foreign head of state to engage in a policy meeting inside the Situation Room). I learned more about Witkoff and Kushner and Stephen Cheung and other minor actors. And you will learn who sat next to whom at each White House meeting, if anyone really cares about that.

As another reviewer mentioned, this book would spell the end of the Trump presidency in any other age but not in our current state of torpor in 2026. Fox news watchers should read the book to learn about the massive corruption and incompetence and cruelty reported here. But they probably won't. It's worth a read for those who don't follow the news carefully, but truly have an open mind and want to learn about the horrible state we are in.

Very good book. Clearly written and tackles a variety of events that overlap chronologically without getting lost -- that's a good skill. Basically by treating on topic at a time rather than going chronologically and dealing with multiple simultaneous events. You will know a lot about the issues already if you follow the news, but this gets into behind the scenes info that hasn't been reported. How they got some of the details is remarkable -- look for the quotation marks. Worth your money and time.

Everyone should read this book as it is a very important and informative book on the behind the scenes of what takes place in the things going on with our president and the people he hired to do various jobs. This book absolutely blew my mind.

This book is extremely well researched. It is superbly well written. It comes from hundreds, if not thousands, of interviews with staff members to give you a behind-the-scenes view of today's White House. The quality of writing puts you in the room as the issues over the past year were discussed. Through that, you feel like you almost work there.

That creates an earthquake of feeling that will overtake and depress you. It seems like the White House has become a circus where people put on a show for no apparent purpose. Chaos is the order of the day. If you are a Democrat, this book will drive you into depression. It confirms your chants and screams you really didn't think were true. If you are a Republican, this book will drive you into a depression that will blind you. Things were supposed to be better than this with his election. This was the guy who could talk in complete sentences. What is next? Will chaos rule the day?

I could not put this book down. The incompetence of DJT’s staff is something I suspected to be true, but I had no way of researching it until now. Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan are seasoned journalists who capture the essence of what it is like to roam the halls of the White House. What I like most about this book is that it's not a gossip piece; their approach is based on facts, extensive interviews, and written correspondence. The authors aren't fixated on Trump; they cover all the players in Trump’s circle. If you read this book, you will be introduced to a dysfunctional, chaotic, and incompetent administration.

This is a very good book. Well written, impeccably researched and, in places, fascinating. I couldn’t finish it because it made me too angry.

Fantastic book by amazing reporters. I almost didn’t finish because it was really hard to stomach the destruction of the U.S. under his leadership. I really hate to think how it will be after his next 2 years what it will take to undo all the damage he has done to the country and international relationships.

I am Canadian. The likely hood of Canada trusting the U.S. again will be very very difficult. And this has nothing to do with the people themselves but their leadership and the decisions made .

Trump is a man whom has taken care of himself. A true narcissist.

The authors were very meticulous in their research. I have listen to numerous news reports and been a witness through this time to Trump’s destructive behave.

This book is a landmark to our future generation to read/listen to to know what took place during this regime.

I understand the authors reluctance to write the next two years. But if they do decide to I will buy your book!!!

We all know Donald Trump is dangerous for the democracy, the United States and the world, but with this amazing book we now know why. He is using his power to get him, his family and his friends richer, he doesn't care about American people nor the country. His ego is the most important. The US will need decades to recover from this man.
