7.0 Microsite

What is this?

This tracking issue will cover the work needed for the 7.0 release microsite. The microsite is a landing page on WordPress.org that showcases all the highlighted features and enhancements for a particular release. Aesthetically, the design for this microsite has followed general WordPress branding instead of the unique flavor of any particular release.

Timing

• Copy draft: 26 February 2026 (in line with Beta 2)
• Initial design: 19 March 2026, in line with RC1
• Final design: [TBD]

The main date we need to keep in mind is RC1 as we likely want to align with what's being shared on the About page and it would be helpful to have some shared approach there.

Content

The microsite is distinct on its own meant for a broader outside of WordPress use case yet also should share structure and highlights with the About page. Because of this, we need to align with the About page effort and ensure some cross pollination there.

Hey @rabie-elkheir! Thanks for your interest. For context, typically folks from the design team drive these tasks, with editorial help towards the end to ensure each sentence hits the mark. If you'd like to create a draft or offer an early variation, you're welcome to do so but the work very well may not be used and I don't want to set wrong expectations there. In terms of next steps, creating an initial design based on prior release sites and the current likely items to feature works great.

Sharing a first draft of the microsite that has an initial approach of the features listed and prioritized in the ticket for the highlight grid (#74786)

The content inserted in the wireframe below is also in this Google Doc. The page has no art direction at all, all styles are intentionally plane to focus the discussion in the features copy.

I dig it. Note, with real time collaboration on track, in addition to it being the top video featurette, I took a stab in the Figma and the Google Doc to tweak the intro blurb a little bit.
