Rosaries are the currency of Pharloom used in Hollow Knight: Silksong. There are three types of Rosaries that can be found, each with a different value:

Use

Rosaries are used to purchase certain goods, and to activate toll booths to unlock certain Benches, Bellways, and Ventrica stations. Certain other machines may also be activated by inserting Rosaries.

Rosaries can be attached to strings, preventing them from being lost upon death. Hornet cannot spend the strung Rosaries until the Rosary String is broken.[1][2]

Miscellaneous

Infinite Spendings

The following can be spent at infinite supply or infinitely until Hornet does certain actions.

  • Rosaries 50 per Shard Bundle
  • Rosaries 80 per Rosary String
  • Rosaries 140 per Rosary Necklace (bought from Frey only)
  • Rosaries 30 per Pilgrim's Rest entry and bench use. After the first pay, Hornet can break the mechanism inside the building or wait until it collapses in Act 3 to make the entries free.
  • Rosaries 30 each time Flea Brew is refilled. In Act 3, Flea Brew is refilled for free.
  • Rosaries 10 each time Hornet uses Kratt's spa service. After the first pay, Hornet can punish Kratt for peeping to use freely.
  • Rosaries 50 each time Plasmium Phial is refilled. Eventually it is replaced by Plasmium Gland which acts as endless reserve.
  • Rosaries 4 each lost game with Lumble the Lucky. Eventually Hornet can get all the rosaries back from winning.
  • Rosaries 25 for each game round organised by Loddie. Loddie rewards Hornet with Tool Pouch for first won round, which can be picked up later, and Heavy Rosary Necklace for second won round. For the third round, Loddie has Rosaries 380 in his inventory, which can be depleted or increased by playing.

  • Rosaries 10 to buy a drink from Creige in Halfway Home

In addition, the Rosary Cannon uses Rosaries as ammunition and can be used to load the tool at a bench.

  • Rosaries 22635 to get everything at the most sparing prices (excluding Silkshot)
  • Rosaries 23225 to get everything at maximum prices (Rosaries 590 difference, including Rosaries 240 for the most expensive Silkshot variant)
  • Rosaries 21065 to get everything at the most sparing prices but items that can be obtained for free instead
  • Rosaries 12880 to get everything at the most sparing prices required for Completion percentage

How to Acquire

Rosaries can be acquired in different ways:

Dropped Rosaries roll along the ground and will be destroyed if they fall into spikes or if Hornet leaves the room without picking them up. With the Magnetite Brooch equipped, dropped Rosaries fly towards Hornet after a delay.

Hornet can carry a maximum of 20 of each type of Rosary String or Rosary Necklace in her Inventory. There are different ways of obtaining these items:

  • Examining glowing spots across Pharloom.
  • Completing certain Wishes.
  • Paying a vendor or a machine Rosaries 80 to receive a Rosary String (worth Rosaries 60).
  • Paying Frey Rosaries 140 to receive a Rosary Necklace (worth Rosaries 120).

Trivia

  • Similarly to Shell Shards Shell Shards, Shell Rosaries sink after a few seconds unlike the other variants which remain afloat.
  • Rosaries have a maximum capacity of Rosaries 9999999. However, this limit would likely never be reached through normal gameplay.
  • In the 2019 Silksong demo, Rosaries had a different description: "Holy currency beads used to trade for goods. Each rosary is etched with a fine patterned design."[1]
  • In EDGE Magazine, a "100-bead-strong-rosary" that costs Rosaries 120 to buy from Pebb is discussed; such an item does not exist in-game.[2]
    • Since the Rosary String, now Rosaries 60, originally was valued at Rosaries 40, this item is likely the now-Rosaries 120 Rosary Necklace.
  • There are unused graphics for Rosary-filled Cocoons, and an unused type of Rosary called pearl_clean which is worth Rosaries 15.
