2 months, 3 weeks - In today's Daily Fix:Xbox boss Asha Sharma sent an email to employees announcing a 'significant' restructuring of the company, citing losing "64 cents for every dollar invested" in their studios in an average year. Unfortunately 3,200 employees will be laid off, starting with 1,600 today and the rest to happen throughout Fiscal year 2027. Microsoft-owned studioss Double Fine and Compulsion Games will become independent studios, while others such as Ninja Theory and Undead Labs "have entered terms to join new ownership." Arkane Studios' management will enter into consultation with its workers council on next steps. No publicly-announced games are said to be cancelled as part of the reductions in workforce. In other news, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has been blocked in 132 countries, likely due to Sony's PSN requirements, and PSN being blocked in specific territories. And finally, DC Studios' Supergirl has crossed $100 million at the global box office in its second week, and will likely not recoup its reported $170 million production budget (which does not include the massive marketing spend).

3 months - You will believe a man can fly. Or in this case, a girl. But not just fly. In Supergirl, the latest movie from James Gunn’s DCU, the Girl of Steel has her own particular style of flying, using the ability as a sort of unique form of martial arts at times. But it’s been quite a journey to go from the early days of onscreen Kryptonian flying to today’s high-tech methods – and it’s rarely been an easy path along the way. So with the help of the Woman of Tomorrow herself, Milly Alcock, and Supergirl’s director Craig Gillespie, let’s trace the earliest attempts to depict super-flight in movies and TV, and the heights that have been achieved in the modern DC movies.

3 months - After a memorable crash landing in last year's Superman, Milly Alcock is back as Kara Zor-El in Supergirl, her first solo adventure in the James Gunn DCU. Directed by Craig Gillespie, this hard-drinking version of Woman of Tomorrow is a grab bag of influences from True Grit, Mad Max, Guardians of the Galaxy and, as any self-respecting film with practical makeup effects for a menagerie of alien extras should be, Star Wars. While Alcock is great and Jason Momoa as Lobo is as fun as we thought he'd be, the movie might actually take a little too literally from these influences.
