If you've got to the SWDP Control Room in Silent Hill: Townfall and you're wondering what on earth you need to do with the Main Controls, don't worry, those little buttons have tripped us all up. To crack on with finding out what happened to the engineers in the rig, you'll need to know what buttons to press in the right order at the right time. With that in mind, here’s our guide on tackling the SWDP Control Room Puzzle.
How The Puzzle Works
When you first reach this console, you’ll notice a document to the right. This document contains your vague instructions on how to enter commands into the console. The 3 boxes represent the order you should be pressing the buttons, so
- First would be the command
- Second would be the type of equipment that the command should interact with
- And third would be the ID for the equipment.
The dot matrix printer is reading out the log of the events that Simon must recreate, and using that information, we can proceed with the puzzle.
Steps for Completing the SWDP Control Room Puzzle
First, flip on the power switch for the control panel and security camera feed.
Open Valve B
The computer will prompt Simon to “OPEN VALVE B.” So how do we do that exactly with all these funky looking buttons? You have to think of each button as a word that corresponds to the capitalized text on the printer, and the top left button represents “OPEN.”
Since we need to “OPEN VALVE B” we press the button that looks like a valve on the 3rd column, 2nd row. Now how do we find the ID for valve B? You just have to cycle through the security cameras on the left until he reaches the feed “Valves A-C,” and you’ll find it, and more importantly, the code 2-5-4 written on its side. Add that code, and press enter.
Start Filter A
Now that we understand the pattern, it’s much easier to execute. The printer then instructs us to “START FILTER A.” To use the “START” command, look for the play button on the left-hand side, 2nd row down, and combine that with the filter-like icon on the far right column, 3rd row down.
If you switch the camera feed to the “Filter Unit,” you can pan to the right and see the code 1-0-3. Add that code, and press enter once again.
Manually Opening the Auxiliary Lines
Our printer overlord is now asking that we use locker code 0-8-2-5 to find a key that will help us manually open the auxiliary lines. So, head to the right of the console to find a locker, and enter in the code to obtain the AUX key.
Now leave the room, go down the stairs, head up the elevator, and go to the room marked “AUX” on top of the door, and on your map. The cabinet in this room will have an AUX disc that you will need to pick up, and place into the computer terminal near you.
You’ll find a peculiar-looking screen of horizontal and vertical lines that you must use to solve the pipe puzzle around you. You solve this by looking at the painted notches that are under each valve.
Some have 1, some have 2, and some have 3. If you look back at that computer terminal, you’ll notice that there is a series of lines for 1, 2, and 3 as well. So, the goal is to follow the pipe with a notch number, stick with that notch number, and flip the valves to match the lines written on the computer. Also, the arrows on the pipe let you know which direction to start in.
Turn On Line 3
Let’s start with number 3 since it’s at the top near the room’s entrance. It goes:
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Vertical
- Vertical
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Horizontal
- Vertical.
If you enter it correctly, you should get a green light.
Turn On Line 2
Next, let's do number 2. This time, we are going to want to start on the back wall opposite to where we started with 3, due to the direction of the arrow on the wall.
This sequence goes:
- Vertical
- Horizontal
- Horizontal
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Horizontal
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Vertical.
Once again, you should see that satisfying green light.
Turn On Line 1
Now let's wrap it up with number 1. Like number 2, we are going to start on the back wall, and follow the arrow on the wall.
This sequence goes:
- Vertical
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Vertical
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Horizontal
- Vertical
- Vertical.
Once you get the final green light, you can head back up the elevator into the control room.
Flush AUX Line B
The printer now instructs us to “FLUSH AUX LINE B.” We now press the icon on the 2nd column, 2nd row down, which best represents flushing, and the icon on the 4th column, 4th row down which best represents auxiliary.
Unlike our previous commands, we don’t find the code for the AUX lines on the camera feed. Instead, we find it on the document to the right of the control panel, which gives us the code 2-4-6. Add that code and press enter.
Stop the Regulator
The printer’s next instruction is to “STOP THE REGULATOR.” First, press the icon with the stop symbol, next the gauge symbol on the 3rd column, 4th row down.
Switching the camera to “Regulator systems” will allow us to zoom in and find the code 7-8-1. Add that and press enter once again.
Unlock the Door to Valve F
The printer lets us know the next step is to unlock the door to Valve F. It’s the same process yet again.
Press the unlock button on the 2nd column, 4th row down, and then the door button at the top of the 3rd column. Check the camera for the feed for valves D-F. Remember, we aren’t looking for the code for Valve F, we are looking for the code to the entrance to reach Valve F.
Zoom in on the door, to find the code 5-9-2, which you can add to the console and press enter.
Manually Open Valve F
The printer is now informing us that things are really not going well, so much so that we have to manually open Valve F.
Now with the door open, we will travel down the stairs to the floor where the stalker-type enemy is, scoot past him, head down another flight of stairs, and head across the room to another hallway, which we will take all the way down to where Valve F is. Close that valve as instructed and head back to the control room.
Clamp Release Module
On the far left side of the room, you will find a printer with a document for us to pick up. This document will be our guide to operate the machine on the opposite side to the control panel we have been using.
Looking up from the new panel, we will see the clamps we need to release through the glass. Just follow the instructions on the document from the green start graphic.
Adjust the pressure control to "set" on the bottom left hand side of the machine. Then set the “self” and “all” notify switches to “on.” Look at the top left of the panel to get the model number, match it to the document to find that tension left and right needs to be set to intermediate.
Next, set the run off to “disengaged,” and the intubate flow to “none.” Looking at the clamps shows us the code D71, so input that in the clamp connection section. The clamp code has a D in it, which signifies that we need to flip the 1st, 3rd, and 6th report switches. Finally, just adjust the battery switches until the ready light turns green.
Press the release button and it should flash signifying that you have completed everything you need to do in this room. All that’s left is to head back downstairs, and rotate the final valve.
