Flick the Fixer
Flick the Fixer is an NPC in Hollow Knight: Silksong. He is a resident of Bone Bottom who specialises in construction and repairs.[2]
Background
Flick is one of the many pilgrims who arrived in Bone Bottom to start his pilgrimage to the Citadel, but eventually ended up as the settlement fixer, despite knowing that it is shameful for a pilgrim to tarry so long in one place.[2][3] He cares for the other pilgrims and is ready to use his building skills to aid them.[4][5][6] In his craft, he often uses Shell Shards.[7]
In-Game Events
Flick the Fixer can first be found building a wishwall in Bone Bottom, believing that the settlement needs a place for prayers and wishes so that they are not left unanswered.[8]
He finishes building the wishwall after Hornet defeats the Bell Beast, and places his own Bone Bottom Repairs wish on it. When Hornet grants this wish by donating the required amount of Shell Shards, he tells Hornet that such kindness is not something one sees much of in this weary place, to which Hornet responds that she is doing it for her own purposes.[9] Flick is surprised, but still thanks her and wishes her luck in her travels.[10]
After the Bone Bottom Repairs wish is completed, upon re-entering Bone Bottom, Flick is no longer at the wishwall. He can be seen working in the background, and is present on a few occasions afterwards:[code 1]
- Upon completion of the An Icon of Hope wish, Flick appears to express his gratitude. He gifts Hornet the Hornet Statuette and assures her she is always welcome in the settlement.[11]
- After the Skull Tyrant attack, he can be found fixing the destroyed bench. Flick is glad that Hornet is unharmed after the battle and apologises for leaving her in danger, admitting that he is no warrior. Hornet, however, reassures him that he did the right thing, as the settlement needs a fixer, not a warrior.[12]
- If Pilby dies when the Skull Tyrant attacks Bone Bottom, Flick appears during the funeral held by Solemn Pilgrim.
When Hornet delivers the Bone Bottom Supplies from Tipp & Pill, Flick is there to receive the package. He mentions that pilgrims often arrive at the settlement with nothing, and that the supplies will make things easier for them.[13] After receiving the package for the first time, he no longer leaves the area.
After the destruction of Bone Bottom in Act 3, Flick and the other surviving residents relocate to the Marrow and set up the Survivor's Camp. When Hornet visits them, he remarks that it is no surprise she survived, considering her skill, and tells her about the fate of their settlement.[14] When Hornet lets him know that she intends to fix the black calamity, he expresses doubt that any one bug could do it, but is still heartened to know that she has fire enough to feel different.[15] Hornet can deliver the Survivor's Camp Supplies from Tipp & Pill to Flick, to much appreciation from him.[16]
