Fayforn
The Fayforn[3] is an NPC in Hollow Knight: Silksong. She grants Hornet the Faydown Cloak.
Background
The Fayforn is described as the "fell heart of frost" who soars the heights above Mount Fay.[4] She is known for her fabled and precious feather down, which is considered an exceptionally rare and mighty gift to receive.[5][6] In the past, the Weavers built their chambers and a calling device at the peak of the mountain for the purpose of communing with the Fayforn.[1] Weavers were challenged to make the difficult climb to the top, though hailing the Fayforn was dangerous, as she could equally grant insight or death.[7]
In-Game Events
Once Hornet reaches the peak of Mount Fay, she finds a tuning mechanism.[8] When she starts playing the Needolin, the device amplifies the sound, drawing the Fayforn's attention. Upon descending, the creature grants Hornet her down to create the Faydown Cloak.
If Hornet visits the Mask Maker afterwards, he is impressed by this gift, suggesting that by granting it, the Fayforn has chosen to oppose Grand Mother Silk.[6][9]
In Act 3, during the Passing of the Age wish, Mister Mushroom visits the peak to speak with the Fayforn.

- The Fayforn has no Needolin dialogue, although she coos when the Needolin is played.
- Driftlins are likely related to the Fayforn due to visual similarities and their Needolin dialogue.[10]
- The Fayforn is constantly shedding small feathers, similar to those that appear when Hornet performs a double jump using the Faydown Cloak.
- The Fayforn has a cut animation of appearing in the distance.
