In Marvel's Wolverine, For Our Future is the third mission set in Madripoor, and just like Last Meal in Telambang, this quest is one huge boss battle. After fighting his way through the secret subterranean areas of Trask Tower, Logan has Bolivar Trask in his sights when the hateful villain activates a Sentinel Prototype to fend him off.

In this For Our Future Walkthrough, we'll breakdown the Sentinel Prototype boss battle, explain the enemy's attacks, and provide tips to help you tear Trask's prized tin can into scrap metal.

Note

The Sentinel Prototype boss battle consists of two phases, and its only checkpoint activates after you cut the Sentinel's HP to roughly 50% to trigger a cutscene that sees the enemy break containment. In other words, if you die at any point in the first phase, you'll have to restart the boss battle entirely.

But if you survive until phase two of the battle, any deaths will allow you to restart at the start of phase two instead of having to start the battle from scratch.

Phase 1

After the cutscene, there will be little time to waste as the Sentinel Prototype immediately raises its right arm and slams it to the ground. Dodge or parry the move, tap △ to cut the distance, then swing away. The Sentinel Prototype can perform a few slightly different types of right-handed slams, and often chains them together, so you'll need to be prepared to dodge more than once.

Fof 2.png

The Sentinel Prototype can also slam after winding up a punch and jabbing directly at you, as seen above. Regardless of the type of slam performed, you'll want to closely monitor the Sentinel's arms after it slams. If it stays on the ground, that's your cue to hit him with everything you've got. In the Omega Red battle, which Special Techniques and Techniques you used, and when you used them, was pretty significant.

However, the Sentinel Prototype doesn't take stagger and his moves cannot be interrupted, so when you get the chance to swing at his arm, you'll only need to focus on dealing as much damage as you can before it preps his next attack. As the battle progresses, the Sentinel will adapt to shoot laser projectiles from its eyes when its arm is stuck on the ground to limit the amount of damage you inflict, so keep tabs on his eyes to ensure you're prepared to dodge when needed.

Before we continue talking about the Sentinel Prototype's core moveset, let's talk about some of the attacks the enemy used least frequently in our testing. These include:

Attack/Move How to Avoid
The Sentinel Prototype swipes its right arm across its body to swing at you. Wait for the swinging arm to near your location, then dodge or parry. This move can also be evaded by being out of range of the swing. Typically, that means being as far from the Sentinel as possible.
The Sentinel Prototype grabs at the ground with its left hand, then its right hand. This move can also be dodged and parried. It acts similarly to the Sentinel's dual slam because after the second grab, his hands will get stuck to the ground, giving you a chance to inflict free damage.
The Sentinel Prototype shoots laser beams at Mystique. Though the laser beams will force Mystique to switch sides, it seemingly has no effect on her. However, this move grants a very small opening where you can get some swings in, if you're within Leap Attack range.

Now let's talk about arguably the most important attack in Phase 1. The Sentinel Prototype's tracking laser beams. When you see the laser beams begin to shoot from the Sentinel's eyes, try to start near the center of the stage, then sprint to either northern corner to avoid getting burned. As soon as you see the laser beams turn off, press R1 and Mystique will temporarily disable the Sentinel Prototype.

While it's down, rush over and hit the enemy with as many slashes and Techniques as you can before it recovers. When it boots back up, you'll want to get out of the way fast because it'll pound its fists together to punish your aggression.

The final attack the Sentinel Prototype uses in this phase is a missile bombardment. When this move is used, you'll notice orange-colored markings on the floor that indicate where the robot's missiles will land, so you'll just need to sprint out of the way before the projectiles hit the ground.

Fof 7.png

When you drain the Sentinel Prototype's health bar to roughly 60%, it'll punch directly into the ground, and you'll spot a △ button prompt on the bot's arms. When this happens, quickly tap △ to leap onto its arm, then press the button prompts that pop up on your screen to sever the Sentinel's right arm. This marks your entrance into Phase 2, and triggers a brief cutscene, where the Sentinel Prototype breaks containment and chases Logan and Raven outside.

Phase 2

Fof 8.png

For the most part, Phase 2 is pretty similar to Phase 1, except the Sentinel uses its left arm in combat and enhances a few of his moves. The first change is that it independently shoots lasers out of his eyes, like it did in Phase 1 when his arm was stuck on the ground. It typically shoots out four bursts, and when the attack is done, you'll have a brief window to slash him. The laser projectiles can also be chained with other moves.

Fof 9.png

Meanwhile, the bot's missile bombardment works the same, but often covers a larger percentage of the battlefield, thereby limiting your escape routes. Aside from that, the Sentinel Prototype will use the same moves as in Phase 1, but it'll have the ability to string more moves together than it previously could.

Fof 10.png

As you progress, the Sentinel Prototype will charge a projectile in its hand and Sabretooth will drop in with an armored vehicle you guys can use as cover to avoid the blast. Once safe behind the vehicle, press the button prompts that appear on screen, and Sabretooth will throw Wolverine onto the Sentinel Prototype's arm.

Fof 11.png

Continue pressing the buttons that pop on-screen, and you'll severely damage the android's arm. From this point forward, the Sentinel Prototype's attacks will be quicker, so you'll need to adjust your dodge and parry timing slightly.

Fof 12.png

Just like in Phase 1, when the Sentinel's HP drops to a certain threshold, it'll punch the ground and you'll spot a △ prompt over its arm. Press △ to leap onto its arm, and you'll trigger a cutscene that shows Mystique and Sabretooth distracting the Sentinel. As Logan leaps back onto the bot, press the buttons that flash on screen to disable the Sentinel Prototype.

Fof 13.png

Seeing his life's work defeated, Trask decides to detonate the Sentinel Prototype in a last ditch effort to defeat Team X. But just as the Sentinel is on the brink of exploding, Essex arrives and contains the blast.

Fof 14.png

Team X then waltzes in to apprehend the defenseless Trask. Essex grabs Trask by the throat and uses his powers to break the villain's bones. As Logan grows increasingly uncomfortable with Essex's actions, he puts an end to Trask's torture by stabbing him with his claws.

Essex becomes enraged and says "that was for me to decide", and they share an awkward staredown until Essex calms down. Essex then hatches a plan to have Mystique make a public appearance as Trask to claim the events that just transpired were "a security test gone wrong".
