New Austin is the southern most state in Red Dead 2. It is sparsely populated by humans; mostly bandits and outlaws; but is home to a variety of plants and animals found nowhere else in Red Dead 2. Much of the state is a desert scrub landscape. There are some lightly wooded grasslands in the east, and areas of deep desert canyons. Most of its northern border is an impassable ridgeline, and its southern border is bounded by the San Luis River separating it from Nuevo Paraiso.
New Austin in only accessible after Chapter 6.
