How to unlock Camp Fast Travel in Crimson Desert
Here's how to activate the Abyss Nexus by Howling Hill
Want a way to Fast Travel to the Greymane Camp in Crimson Desert? The Camp on Howling Hill is your base of operations for the vast majority of the game, and it's a place you'll be returning to constantly throughout the main story of Crimson Desert. But despite it being an early and important location, unlocking Fast Travel there is much more complicated a process than you might think.
Below we'll walk you through exactly how to unlock the Camp's Fast Travel point in Crimson Desert. We'll show you where to find the hidden Abyss Nexus, and walk you through all the steps to get both the important skills and items you need in order to activate the Nexus and enable Fast Travel there for the rest of your playthrough. Let's dive in!
How to unlock the Greymane Camp Fast Travel
There is a nearby Fast Travel point for the Greymane Camp, but you can only unlock it after reaching Chapter 4 of the main story. The closest Fast Travel point to the Greymane Camp is located to the east of Howling Hill, near Kliff's house. There's a hidden Abyss Nexus near the cliff, surrounded by a small group of trees. The Abyss Nexus is covered in vines which you can remove with either a flaming arrow or your Concentrate Light ability.
After that, you need to find and install an Abyss Transporter into the Nexus to unlock Fast Travel there. Abyss Transporters can be found at certain secret locations across the map, but the easiest place to get one is at the Lion's Path of Return, near Hernand. The downside is that you need to unlock a couple of abilities first, both of which are only unlocked during Chapter 4 of the main story.
Here's exactly what to do to unlock Fast Travel to the Greymane Camp:
- Obtain the Kuku Pot (Chapter 4).
- Unlock the Focused Force Palm ability (Chapter 4).
- Acquire the Abyss Transporter from the Lion's Path Of Return.
- Install the Abyss Transporter into the Abyss Nexus near Howling Hill.
1. Obtain the Kuku Pot (Chapter 4).
The first thing you need is a Kuku Pot, a unique item given to you at the end of the first main questline of Chapter 4, "Mysterious Pot". The Kuku Pot allows you to store in your inventory certain objects which you can pick up using the Axiom Force.
To acquire the Kuku Pot, you first need to repair the Kiln at the Kilnden Workshop. This can be a fairly confusing puzzle quest, so check out our Kiln Repair walkthrough if you're stuck.
The Kuku Pot is necessary to unlock Fast Travel to the Greymane Camp, because you need it to store the Abyss Transporter, and then relocate it to Howling Hill to install it into the Abyss Nexus there.
2. Unlock the Focused Force Palm ability (Chapter 4).
The nearest Abyss Transporter is in a secret area which can only be reached with the Focused Force Palm ability. You'll gain this ability during the Chapter 4 main quest: "Scholastone". After acquiring the Kuku Pot, you'll need to complete the next three main quests: "Disturbance At The Arena", "Skilled In Archery", and "The Words Of Alustin".
Once you reach the "Scholastone" quest - specifically the "Head to Scholastone" step - head to the quest marker to the southwest, taking the main road through the Witchwoods and the Black Forest. Once you reach the quest marker, you'll find a small tunnel through the rock in the road.
Head past it, and you'll be able to "Observe" an apparition using the "Focused Force Palm" ability to break through the Bismuth Ore wall ahead. Observe the apparition to learn the "Focused Force Palm" ability for yourself. To perform it, simply click Left Thumbstick + Right Thumbstick (or X on keyboard) to enter a Focused state. Then, while Focused, hold Right Thumbstick (or Middle Mouse Button) to charge up a Focused Force Palm strike. Aim it where you like, and then release to strike.
Once you have this ability, you have what you need to reach the Abyss Transporter. You're free to leave, and carry on the main quest later.
3. Take the Abyss Transporter from the Lion's Path Of Return.
Now that you have "Focused Force Palm", head to Muckroot Ranch, the small farm just southeast of the town of Hernand. On the western edge of the farm, you'll see a small open wooden structure. Inside it, there's a trapdoor which you can open to reveal a ladder.
Climb down the ladder to enter a secret area called the Lion's Path Of Return. Around the corner is a flame trap which you can jump over (or just run through it, it doesn't hurt much). Then follow the path into a room guarded by two Bismuth Oreback Crabs. Defeat them carefully with hit-and-run tactics - they pack a punch, particularly early on in the game.
Once you've killed both Crabs, take the three Palmar Pills on the bench, and then use Focused Force Palm on the Bismuth wall in the corner of the room. Hold down the Focused Force Palm until you can see the sphere on the other side of the wall, and aim at the sphere. Then roll backwards immediately afterwards to avoid being damaged by the explosion.
Behind the wall, you'll find the true treasure of this secret area: an Abyss Transporter, floating in the room beyond. Latch onto the Abyss Transporter with your Axiom Force, and then tap the prompted button to "Seal" it inside the Kuku Pot.
4. Install the Abyss Transporter into the Abyss Nexus near Howling Hill.
Now you have everything you need. Make your way out of the Lion's Path Of Return, and travel to your house east of Howling Hill. Follow the clifftop round to the southeast, and you'll see a small patch of trees. The Abyss Nexus is hidden in the ground between the trees.
The Abyss Nexus is covered in vines, so use your Blinding Flash - Concentrate Light ability to set fire to the vines and burn them away. You can do this by holding LB + RB, then clicking and holding LB once more to activate a beam of light that can ignite the vines. On PC, you must hold CTRL + Left-Click, then click and hold CTRL once more to activate Concentrate Light. Steer clear of the vines as they burn, or you'll be set on fire too.
Once the vines are clear, open your inventory, select your Kuku Pot, and tap A or Space to "Examine" its contents. Inside its separate inventory compartment you'll find the Abyss Transporter from the Lion's Path Of Return. Select the Abyss Transporter and tap X or F to "Discard" it, placing it back in the world in front of you.
Latch onto the Abyss Transporter with your Axiom Force, and move it into position just above the Abyss Nexus. Let go of it once it's in position, then climb on top of it and perform an Aerial Force Palm by jumping and then using Force Palm (Right Thumbstick or Middle Mouse Button) in midair. This will make Kliff do a Force Palm directly downward, fusing the Abyss Transporter to the Abyss Nexus, and activating the Abyss Nexus at last.
Now you're done! With the Abyss Nexus activated, you can open your map and select the Nexus to Fast Travel to the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill whenever you want!
