Silent Hill Townfall Part 4 Clara Woods walkthrough
Playing as Simon still, Part 4 Clara Woods sees you exploring the Clara Woods Estate and learning about the lives of its inhabitants, who were all workers at the nearby CEG Headquarters which you're ultimately trying to reach.
Below, you'll find all main objectives during the Part 4 of Silent Hill Townfall, as well as exactly how to complete them.
- Unlock the Clara Woods Estate Map.
- Enter and explore the Clara Woods Estate.
- Enter CEG Lockers.
- Go to 5 South Brae.
- Find the Floppy Disk Case Key and the Locker 17 barcode.
- Go to 5 Upper Brae.
- Solve the transcription player puzzle and get the Locker 94 barcode.
- Go to 6 North Brae.
- Solve the Lamenting Poem puzzle and get the Locker 204 barcode.
- Combine the Mechanical Parts and unlock the Strange Gate.
- Enter CEG Headquarters and unlock the CEG HQ Map.
- Unlock Security.
- Unlock Richard's box and print an Access Card.
- Go to Floor 10 and enter the office.
1. Unlock the Clara Woods Estate Map.
Playing as Simon in unfamiliar territory that's littered with corpses, you first need to walk along the road ahead and go left to reach the Clara Woods Estate.
That said, some of these corpses aren't actually dead and will lunge at you when you're close. While you can try walk around them and avoid them as best you can, it's highly likely some will still jump at you. You'll need to fend them off with a QTE and will take some damage in the process.
After reaching the end of this body covered street, go right and stay right until you find a garden you can enter. Go inside and into the next garden, where you'll find Strange Postcard 10 inside of a garden shed.
In New Game Plus, this same shed will contain the Silver Coin needed for the game's dog ending. You must input this into the guide dog bank inside of the Laundromat in Clara Woods Estate, which is only accessible after unlocking the Boltcutters as you'll need these to access the Laundromat's back entrance.
Exit and head left now, until you reach the entrance to the Clara Woods Estate. Collect the Clara Woods Estate Map from the sign.
Before barreling into the Estate, U-turn and enter the Locals store in front of you. In here, you'll find the following items to help you out:
- There's Alcohol and two Gauze in the main room.
- Behind the front desk, there's a box containing three Pistol Rounds, and the Store Staff Notice document.
- There's a Radio that Simon can tune his CRTV to. During this, you'll hear someone talking about current events.
- Through the emergency exit in the back of the store, you can collect a Plank.
After looting the Locals store dry, exit and go into the Clara Woods Estate finally.
2. Enter and explore the Clara Woods Estate.
As you head deeper into the Clara Woods Estate, you'll receive a CRTV Signal from Richard that tells Simon to answer the phone, and then a nearby phone box will ring. A cutscene will follow in which Simon is shown answering the phone, and Richard then pleads with him to help him fix things.
You'll now be able to freely explore Clara Woods Estate, and while there are a few things of note to grab, you ultimately want to head to a building called CEG Lockers. First however, here's what you can find around the ground level of the Estate:
- Stenhouse in the Shopping Precinct contains Gauze and IV Fluid.
- You can read the plaque of the Clara Woods Statue.
- House No. 1 is open, and Flat 1A and Flat 1B inside are open.
- Flat 1A contains the Atlas Square Apartment Note and a lockbox. You will find the key for this lockbox in the Post Service building's cash register, and it contains an Empty IV Bag and two Pistol Rounds.
- Flat 1B contains Gauze and Strange Postcard 11.
- You can break the glass of the storefront beside House No. 1 to collect Strange Postcard 12.
- Atlas Computers contains Empty IV Bag, Alcohol, and a Floppy Disk Case that needs a key. We'll come back to this later.
- There's a Strange Gate leading to CEG Headquarters that needs a key. You'll receive a CRTV Signal from Richard here.
In New Game Plus, Stenhouse in the Shopping Precinct (which is southwest of Atlas Square on your map) has Strange Book 2 on the shelf by the window. You must interact with this if you wish to achieve the game's sci-fi ending.
3. Enter CEG Lockers.
After exploring the above, go north on Prosperity Way and left into CEG Staff Parking on your map, then go through the automatic doors up ahead. You'll receive another CRTV Signal from Richard here, stating that you should be able to find some supplies in the employee lockers nearby.
Exit the building to come to a small play park. Directly ahead, there's another set of automatic doors leading into CEG Lockers. Head there.
Behind the front desk, you'll find the Locker Instructions document that reveals that Card Locker ID's with scannable barcodes can be used to open lockers.
There'll also, quite conveniently, be a barcode for Locker 75 here. Use the machine beside this to scan it, and the pin for Locker 75 is revealed: 184. Inside this locker, you'll find a Flare Gun and two Flare Rounds. I recommend saving these for later…
Next, look at the emails on the PC behind the front desk. There are two emails:
- The Lost and Found email reveals that someone's lost house keys have been put into the Lost and Found Locker in the office, and that the code for it is 772.
- The Employee Locker List email reveals a list of employees who haven't emptied their lockers, and their addresses. These are as follows:
- Locker 17 - 5 South Brae
- Locker 204 - 6 North Brae
- Locker 94 - 5 Upper Brae
If you head into the back office of CEG Lockers next, unlock the Lost and Found Locker using the 772 code to receive the South Brae House Key. In the room, you'll also find a save phone, the CEG Lockers Managers Note, a medical kit containing Alcohol and IV Fluid, and a lockbox in need of a key.
Our goal now is to visit all three of the aforementioned houses (in a specific order), find their locker barcodes, and come back to CEG Lockers to open up and steal their belongings. I hope you're prepared for lots of puzzles!
4. Go to 5 South Brae.
Conveniently, all three addresses we need to visit will have been labeled on your map now. First, return to the statue in Atlas Square and go up the stairs – back towards the entrance of the estate – to reach 5 South Brae.
In here, you'll find the following:
- The lounge contains a Radio Signal that you can tune your CRTV to. During the Signal, Richard is shown speaking to someone called Brian about gaining access to a file; Brian refuses.
- A box in the kitchen contains one Flare Round and two Pistol Rounds.
- The back garden shed contains a Pipe.
- The bathroom contains Gauze and Antibiotics.
- The small bedroom has a Gaming Magazine from Atlas Computers.
- The office contains a PC (which needs a Floppy Disk), a Printer, a locked Floppy Disk Case, a locked file box, and a save phone.
- The master bedroom contains the Disk Case Key.
If you use the Disk Case Key on the Floppy Disk Case in the office, you'll receive the Grouped Floppy Disks item which consists of three disks. Now, you can go ahead and put these into the disk reader beside the computer, but the second one of the three disks is corrupted. Time to solve the Floppy Disk puzzle...
Fortunately, the Gaming Magazine from earlier reveals where we can go for disk repairs: Atlas Computers.
5. Find the Floppy Disk Case Key and the Locker 17 barcode.
Go to Atlas Computers and use the Disk Case Key on the Floppy Disk Case in the back office. Inside the case, you'll be able to collect the Fix-A-Disk item, and can return to the office in 5 South Brae.
Now, interact with the PC again and do the following:
- Input Fix-A-Disk and press begin.
- Input Disk 2 and press repair volume.
- Input Disk 1 and press confirm.
- Input Disk 2.
- Input Disk 3 and read the Manual.eml file.
- Turn on the printer, then print the Manual.eml file.
- Prints out the Reciprocating Compressor diagram, which has the Part ID of 956 highlighted.
Next, use the Part ID of 956 on the locked file box in the room. Inside, you can collect the Locker 17 barcode.
Finally, return to CEG Lockers and scan the barcode. The pin for Locker 17 is revealed to be 575.
Open Locker 17 next to receive Bolt Cutters, a Mechanical Part (which needs combining before it can be used), and three Pistol Rounds.
Up next, it's time to put these Bolt Cutters to good use and visit 5 Upper Brae.
6. Go to 5 Upper Brae.
Exit CEG Lockers and keep north to reach a stairwell. Go up the stairs and use the Bolt Cutters on the gate at the top to gain quick and easy access to North Brae.
Outside of No. 9 Upper Brae, you'll find a Condolence Card. There isn't much else here, so head east and along the Overpass to reach the Upper Braes. Before going straight into 5 Upper Brae however, go east along the street labeled 'Upper Brae' on your map to find Strange Postcard 13.
With that collected, you can now enter 5 Upper Brae. In here, you'll find the following:
- A box in the kitchen contains two Pistol Rounds and one Flare Round.
- The lounge contains a save phone and an answer machine with a message from Zoe and a message from Richard.
- The bathroom contains Alcohol and Gauze.
- The office upstairs contains a transcription player, and a note that reads: 'Today, my number was,' with the number blurred out, and a locked file box in need of a three-digit code.
Now, solving this particular transcription player puzzle isn't too tricky, but it is very easy to get confused. Below, you'll find how to solve this puzzle step-by-step and get the file box code.
7. Solve the transcription player puzzle and get the Locker 94 barcode.
First things first, collect Tape: Today from the transcription player. Then, do the following:
- Enter the children's bedroom and collect Tape: Yesterday from the lockbox.
- Put Tape: Yesterday inside the transcription player, and the house will transform.
- Enter the lounge and collect Tape: Tomorrow from the lockbox.
- Enter the kitchen and collect the note that reads 'Today my number was 192'.
- Put Tape: Tomorrow inside the transcription player, and the house will transform again.
- Enter the kitchen and collect Tape: Do Not Play from the lockbox.
- Enter the lounge and collect the note that reads 'Today my number was 125'.
- Put Tape: Do Not Play inside the transcription player, and the house will transform again.
- Enter the kitchen and collect the 5 Upper Braes Back Door Key.
- [Optional] Put Tape: Tomorrow inside the transcription player to collect Strange Postcard 14 from the garden shed.
- Put Tape: Today inside the transcription player, and go into the garden shed to collect the Ammonite Disk.
- Put Tape: Yesterday inside the transcription player, and turn on the PC.
- Input the Ammonite Disk into the Disk Reader beside the PC.
- Read the 'Current Count' email, which – based on the two number notes we've found so far – can be used to reveal the file box code we need.
If tomorrow's number was 192, and yesterday's number was 125, the only number between those two in this email is 129. That's our file box code!
Put Tape: Today into the transcription player now and input the 129 code into the locked file box. Inside, you'll be able to collect the Locker 94 barcode.
Finally, return to CEG Lockers again. On the way, you can unlock the stairwell that's northwest of the Overpass and go down it for a shortcut straight to CEG Staff Parking.
In CEG Lockers, scan the Locker 94 barcode to reveal that the pin for Locker 94 is 490.
Inside the locker, you'll be able to loot two Gauze, three Pistol Rounds, and a second Mechanical Part. The two Mechanical Parts we have cannot be combined yet, so it's time to head to 6 North Brae. The good news is that the puzzle in 6 North Brae is much simpler.
8. Go to 6 North Brae.
Return to the Upper Level of the Clara Woods Estate and go to 6 North Brae. The front door will be locked, so you'll need to go around the back of the house and enter via the back door.
Inside the house, you'll find the following:
- The kitchen contains a save phone, and a box with one Flare Round and two Pistol Rounds.
- The bathroom contains Gauze and an Empty IV Bag.
- The master bedroom contains the Lamenting Poem and another locked file box that needs a three-digit numerical code.
The key to working out the locked file box code is within the Lamenting Poem, and I explain how to solve this below.
9. Solve the Lamenting Poem puzzle and get the Locker 204 barcode.
To solve the Lamenting Poem puzzle, you need to focus on the 'topic' of each stanza. In Hinted mode, these topics and thus, the words you need to be aware of are highlighted in red: boats, arches, and children.
Next, you need to look at the paintings and photographs around the house and identify the ones containing the aforementioned words (boats, arches, and children). If you then count how many times each thing appears in these images, you'll end up with the file box code.
To summarise, the three images you need to look at and the numbers they reveal are as follows:
- Boats: In one of the master bedrooms, there's a painting that features seven boats.
- Arches: In the second master bedroom, there's a painting that features three archways.
- Children: In the lounge, there are three framed photographs with six instances of children being in them.
If you then put the three numbers above in the order that they're mentioned in during the poem, you get the code 736. Input this into the locked file box to claim the Locker 209 barcode finally.
You'll get a CRTV Signal from Richard now, with him telling you to meet him at the 10th Floor of CEG Headquarters.
First, return to CEG Lockers and scan the Locker 209 barcode to reveal the locker's pin: 971. Then, open the locker to collect two Pistol Rounds, one Flare Round, Alcohol, Gauze, and a third Mechanical Part.
10. Combine the Mechanical Parts and unlock the Strange Gate.
Next, combine all three Mechanical Parts in your inventory to get the Constructed Mechanical Device. Then, use this on the Strange Gate on Atlas Way to finally gain entry to CEG.
A cutscene will follow in which Simon finds Richard dead outside of the CEG, and he'll also receive a CRTV Signal from Zoe now.
11. Enter CEG Headquarters and unlock the CEG HQ Map.
After the cutscene, go ahead and enter CEG HQ via the front doors. Inside the building, you'll find the following:
- On the front desk, there's the CEG Information Notice, which reveals that all staff need Access Cards and new ones can be claimed from Security (which is locked with a keypad currently).
- Behind the front desk, you'll find the Inquiry Preparation Notice document and the CEG HQ Ground Floor Map.
- The break area has a First Aid Kit on the counter.
- The Auditorium contains multiple locked file boxes and the Box IDs and Names document. Richard's name is highlighted and his Box ID is revealed to be 36.
- In the Maintenance room, you will find a drawing involving the number 4 on the whiteboard, as well as part of the Case Codes document inside the bin. Unfortunately, Richard's code has been torn off this note.
With the above discovered, let's first work on unlocking Security, then we'll look at unlocking Richard's case.
12. Unlock Security.
While it's easy to be misled by the various information provided once entering CEG HQ, the core clue for cracking the Security keypad code lies with the drawing on the whiteboard in the maintenance room.
To put it simply, the Security keypad code starts with 4, then you need to follow the directional arrows on the whiteboard to discover the rest of the code. You should ultimately end up with a code of 4895.
Inside Security, you'll find the following:
- There's a Radio Signal to tune into that shows Richard being particularly annoyed at other staff members.
- There's a save phone.
- The PC features two emails to read, but nothing of note.
- Inside the bin, you can collect the second half of the Case Codes document.
If you combine the two Case Codes documents together next, the code for Richard's locked file box is revealed to be 486.
13. Unlock Richard's box and print an Access Card.
Return to the Auditorium and unlock Richard's box (which is number 36) using the 486 code. Inside, you'll be able to claim his Employee File Cover Note, which reveals that his Employee ID is '00007820518'.
Go back to Security now and interact with the PC that allows you to print Access Cards. To get an Access Card of your very own, you'll need to do the following:
- Make sure the Access Card machine beside the PC is turned on.
- Turn the PC on and press 'search for user'.
- Input Richard's Employee ID from his Employee File Cover Note: 00007820518.
- Press 'Generate Access Card' and 'Yes'.
- Collect Richard's Access Card from the card printer.
With the Access Card in your possession, head to the elevator.
14. Go to Floor 10 and enter the office.
Use the Access Card to gain entry to the elevator, then head up to Floor 10. On this floor, only one room is open, and that's the illuminated office.
Upon entering the office, a cutscene will play out in which Zoe tells Simon that she doesn't think Richard is helping him…
