Julian began writing about video games in 2012, appearing on the digital pages of Rock Paper Shotgun and Eurogamer, and physical pages of PC Gamer, before becoming a staff writer at other other RPS fanzine PCGamesN. Over the years he's worked at Kotaku UK, GAMINGbible, and TechRadar Gaming, editing sections, websites, and even running a Snapchat publication for a brief spell. In 2023, he returned to freelance, writing for Edge, The Guardian, and GQ. After Graham's departure in 2025, he scaled the treehouse's ladder while no one was looking and installed himself behind the Editorial Director's desk.
