The Dawning has returned to Destiny 2 for 2023, letting you bake cookies, use Dawning Spirits to gain upgrades, Stasis Snowballs, a new Memento, and more!

The Dawning 2023 Start Date
The Dawning 2023 will begin on December 12th, 2023.
Bake Cookies
Cook Gjallardoodles, Classic Butter Cookies, and other delicious treats by by gathering ingredients and Dawning Essence by completing different bounties and activities, and from simply defeating enemies.
Combine these ingredients and Dawning Essence in Eva's Holiday Oven 2.1 and the baked goods will be ready! The Oven can be found in your Quests tab and is acquired from Eva Levante. The goods you bake can be gifted to various characters in exchange for rewards.
Upgrades
By completing Event Card Challenges, delivering baked goods, and activating Boons of Friendship, you can earn Dawning Spirit which allows you to purchase a variety of upgrades that will last for the duration of the event. These upgrades include:
- Bonus event rewards
- The ability to earn Dawning weapons with additional perks from Eva
- Increased power and utility for your Stasis snowballs
- Weapon focusing that allows for targeted weapon drops
Stasis Snowballs
Snowballs now spawn via spawn points that are created wherever an enemy was defeated and eliminated by someone using Dawning weapons or abilities.
New Memento
The Winter Night quest from Eva Levante will give you the chance to earn the new Dawning Memento reward in the image below.
Additional Mementos can be earned from opening A Gift in Return after the first Memento has already been acquired.
New Dawning Weapon - Albedo Wing
A new Glaive has been added in the form of the Albedo Wing. This weapon can be acquired from Event challenges, weapon focusing, or through Festive Engrams which can be purchased using a Gift in Return and Dawning Spirit.
Bungie have noted that this Glaive can roll some new perks from Season of the Wish, including the new Beacon Rounds perk which is normally only found on Rocket-Assisted Sidearms.
Dawning Weapon Perks
- Deconstruct
- Dealing sustained damage grants bonus damage against vehicles and constructs and partially refills the magazine. Damage with Primary ammo or against constructs provides additional progress
- Constructs include barricades, turrets, Stasis crystals, and other objects created in the field
- Though the perk description says it partially refills the magazine, it pulls ammo from thin air (not from reserves)
- Attrition Orbs
- Dealing sustained damage creates an Orb of Power
- Cold Steel
- Powered Sword hits slow targets
- Beacon Rounds
- Final blows with this weapon grant your projectiles tracking. Dealing further damage extends the duration
- Dawning Surprise - Origin Trait
- Rapidly defeating targets awards a Dawning gift. Defeated powerful targets count as more than one
Zephyr is currently the only Stasis Sword, and comes with the Cold Steel trait. The damage bonus from Deconstruct will stack with the Hakke Breach Armaments origin trait which can be selected on Albedo Wing, coupled with the Dawning Surprise origin trait that will appear on all Dawning weapons.
