Multiple Crests are hidden throughout the world of Pharloom, and equipping them changes the way that Hornet plays in Hollow Knight: Silksong. If you're finding it difficult to use Hornet's new Pogo attack and want a downwards slash like the one from the first Hollow Knight, you should hunt for the Silksong Wanderer Crest, which will give you just that.

Hollow Knight Silksong: How to get the Crest of Wanderer

Before you head off to get the Crest of Wanderer in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you need to do a bit of prep work and unlock a few things:

• To start with, obtain Swift Step, the dash/sprint ability found at the top of Deep Docks.
• Then purchase a Simple Key from the seller in Bone Bottom. This costs an expensive 500 Rosaries, so it's recommended that you go to Mosshome, the best early game Rosary grinding spot, to stock up.

Once you've unlocked Swift Step and purchased a Simple Key, take the lift from Bone Bottom back to Mosshome. Then, in the room above the lift, use Swift Step to mid-air dash across the hanging cages.

Continue dashing through the next room past the large bug enemy who shoots acid at you, and use your Simple Key on the door.

You'll emerge in the Wormways; keep going west and drop down into the first pit you see. Keep following these tunnels downwards as far as you can go before exiting to the right into a moss-covered region.

In the mossy chamber, you can drop all the way to the bottom of the room into the water. On the right, there's a moss-covered bone gate that you can slash to open up a direct route that leads back to Bone Bottom and the Bench there. On the right, you'll see a hut. This is the Chapel of the Wanderer.

There's a gauntlet consisting of 4 waves of enemies at the bottom of the Chapel of the Wanderer. All of them are the pilgrims that you've fought in the past. Defeat them and proceed to the bottom to reach the room that contains the Crest of Wanderer.

Use your Bind ability to get the Crest.

Note: it's possible to do this even before you have Swift Step. You can reach the hanging cages either by Pogo-ing off the flying enemies, or by jumping off the high-up cliff on the left of Mosshome (where you can also find a Choral Commandment). You'll need to time your run through the long passage with the acid-spewing mini-boss, but it's possible. Swift Step just makes it far easier.

What does the Crest of Wanderer do in Hollow Knight: Silksong?

The Crest of Wanderer lets Hornet "cut swiftly and nimbly with short, precise strikes" in Hollow Knight: Silksong. In practice, this means that she swings her needle much faster but has shorter reach. The other bonus is that Hornet does a more traditional downwards Pogo attack where she lands vertically, instead of at a 45-degree angle.

While it's up to you whether the faster attack rate is worth the lesser reach, it's hard to deny that the straightforward downslash comes in handy - especially when navigating regions full of jumping puzzles that require Pogo bouncing.
