Looking to reach the True Ending of Hollow Knight: Silksong? It's been a long journey to reach this point, as you'll well know if you've stuck with me over the course of this 39-part Hollow Knight: Silksong walkthrough. But now it's at last time to face the final boss at the bottom of The Abyss.

In Part 39 of our Silksong walkthrough, I'll show you the final few steps you need to reach The Abyss once more, and face the final boss - who incidentally is by far the strongest boss in the game. Did you expect anything less?

1. Return to the Diving Bell.

With everything else in Silksong now more or less completed, your one main task remains: delve as deep as possible into the Abyss once more. To do that, you'll need to return to the Diving Bell in the lowest section of Deep Docks.

The path to the Diving Bell is the same as before, but in case you've forgotten: make your way down to the steam room from the Deep Docks Bellway, and drop to the bottom of the small shaft on your right (minding the lava at the bottom). From there you can take the shortcut you unlocked earlier in the playthrough straight along the right, past the Lavalarga, and you'll find yourself at the Diving Bell once more.

Once you're at the Bell, climb up the tunnel on the right to visit Ballow again, and exhaust his dialogue; then enter the Diving Bell and interact with the speaker to let Ballow know you're ready for the descent once more.

This time, thanks to Ballow's modifications, the Diving Bell will survive the journey into The Abyss. From this point onwards, you can also return to the Diving Bell in either of its locations to move between The Abyss and the rest of Pharloom at will. Not that there's much awaiting you in the rest of the map anymore.

2. Reach the bottom of The Abyss.

As you did previously, make your way down past the various nasty rooms of The Abyss, using the same route as before. You'll need to head as far left as you can go, then drop down the shaft to the very bottom.

Once you're on the bottom layer of The Abyss, head straight along to the right, jumping across the platforms over the void lake to reach the Bench room. Rest at the Bench, and equip whatever tools you'd like to use against the final boss, which is waiting for you just below.

Once you're ready, walk off-screen to the right, and head to the very edge of the platform overlooking the lake. This will prompt another candid conversation with Lace. Once she disappears, follow the prompt to plunge down into the void below.

3. Defeat Lost Lace.

After a cutscene where Hornet uses the Everbloom's power to resist the void as she sinks to the lowest section of The Abyss, you'll arrive at the bottom. Walk to the right, and the darkness will clear; strung up in the background is Grand Mother Silk - or what's left of her. And rising from the darkness in the foreground is the final boss that stands between you and Silksong's True Ending: Lost Lace.

As you may have guessed, this is a very tough fight - easily the hardest in the game, by my experience. Lost Lace has a variety of dangerous, far-reaching combo attacks, as well as two different counterattacks which unleash very quickly, giving you little time to avoid damage.

This is Silksong's equivalent of Malenia from Elden Ring, so you should go in expecting this to take quite a number of attempts as you slowly learn how to best deal with her myriad attacks. Patience helps a lot here.

One of Lost Lace's most dangerous attacks is her bread-and-butter three-step charge. She'll charge back and forth along the ground, leaving behind tendrils of void in her wake. The easiest way to avoid this is by staying in the air and Pogo-ing off her head; but she'll actually adapt the final phase of this combo based on your position. If you're above her, then she'll leap into the air for a very hard to avoid area-of-effect swing.

The better bet is to stay in the air just for the first attack, then simply stay out of reach (but on the ground) for when the attack ends. This will prompt her to just do a final charge instead of her more dangerous air attack.

Once you deliver your first deathblow, Lost Lace will disappear for a moment, then reappear for the next phase of the fight. Grand Mother Silk will fall from her current position, and two tsunami waves of spiky slashing void will tear across the arena, one after the other. The safest way to avoid these waves is to double-jump as high as possible, then dash over the wave while you're at the apex of your jump height.

Lost Lace will then re-emerge with a new suite of void-powered attacks. Occasionally when she teleports, she'll now leave behind a tentacle trap on the floor which can easily snag you if you're not careful.

The more dangerous addition to her moveset is a move where she spews a number of balls of black goop into the air, so that they fall and turn into tentacle traps all over the arena. It's not difficult to avoid these balls, but having so many traps around you makes it much harder to avoid whatever follow-up attack she can conjure up. There's no trick to this - it just takes time and practice to stay calm under pressure.

At times she will also disappear and conjure more void waves - adopt the same technique as before to evade them. Once she laughs her iconic laugh once more, you're in the next phase, where she starts to use the flurry attacks seen previously by her and the First Sinner. They're intimidating as hell, but the counterplay is clear: just avoid the large circles of light that telegraph this move ahead of time.

The extra difficulty that Lost Lace adds to these attacks is that she always finishes each flurry move with a downward slam onto the ground, sending a shockwave of damage across the floor in either direction. So remember to jump into the air in these moments, to avoid the shockwaves.

As with most difficult boss fights in Silksong, you need to learn to save your tools until the hardest stage of the fight. In this case, I'd encourage you to use the Plasmium Phial to soak up as much damage as possible, and then increase your damage as much as possible with the Flintslate. Beyond that, my recommendation is to improve your survivability and healing as much as possible - the old familiar trio of Fractured Mask, Multibinder, and Injector Band will likely save your life a number of times over the course of this fight.

It's a long and arduous fight, but eventually you will strike the decisive blow against Lost Lace. Once you do, Lace will disappear, and a few moments will pass, before her body slowly rises from the void in the centre of the arena. Interact with her body to pick her up, and then - as your last action in the story of Silksong - Super Jump upwards when prompted to try and make the impossible journey back up into Pharloom.

I won't spoil the cutscenes that follow, but sit back and enjoy them. It's a beautiful end to a phenomenal game, and you should feel very proud to have reached it.

That's that! You've completed the True Ending of Hollow Knight: Silksong, in my humble opinion one of the most well-crafted games of the past decade. What's next for Team Cherry? Well, as the True Ending epilogue appears to indicate, we haven't seen the last of the Hollow Knight universe. But while we wait patiently for the next installment (no doubt in another 7 years' time), you can reminisce about all the dangerous creatures and horrors you've faced throughout your playthrough with Jeremy's guide on all 48 Silksong bosses.
