Aknid

In its natural state it would avoid potential predators, but Pharloom's Haunting now compels it to aggression. Fortunately, its jaws are ill-suited for combat.

Aknids are enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. They are winged insects feeding upon moss and lichen, compelled to aggression by the Haunting.[1]
Behaviour and Tactics
Aknids can be found hovering in the air or eating moss on walls and floors. When they spot Hornet, they fly towards her, dealing
upon contact. They have poor turning ability but can fly with brief bursts of speed. Some Aknids can be found carrying a Mossberry or Flea, and fly along a predetermined route instead of targeting Hornet. Playing the Needolin forces them to drop what they are carrying.
When faced with Aknids, the best strategy is to attack them from below. They quickly move towards Hornet, but her damage far outpaces their health. If they bolt towards Hornet, try performing a Needle bounce or multiple needle slashes.
Act 3
Black-threaded Aknids have their health quadrupled. They gain one of the following void attacks: Void Blades, Void Tendrils, or Void Projectiles.

Location
Aknids are most commonly found in Bone Bottom, but they also appear in the lowest part of Shellwood. A few of them can be found holding Mossberries and do not respawn after dropping the berries. If the Aknid holding a Mossberry above the Bone Bottom settlement has not been defeated before the start of Act 3, it will move one room to the east. One Aknid appears on the left side of the room where the Weaver Burial Spire is located once the Silkspear has been acquired from the spire.
Two Aknids can be seen in the Wormways, one of them carrying a Flea.

Trivia
- Aknids were used by Snail Shamans as one of the ingredients for the Anguished Aura.[2]
- Aknids are leftover Aspid enemies and have a cut attack where they would spit a yellow projectile towards Hornet.
