Pointed, darting insect that builds a hardy hive from Shellwood's dried bark.

Destroying the hives will limit their presence in the wood. Useful to me now, as I pass along the branches. Dangerous in time for the wood's order. Even a small disruption can tip a fragile balance.

Wood Wasps are enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. They are tiny, purplish wasps with bulging eyes. They are often found near their nests.

Behaviour and Tactics

When idle, Wood Wasps hover around a small area. When Hornet approaches, they fly towards her and attack by charging at her in a straight line. If they hit a surface while charging, they are stuck briefly before dislodging themselves.

Wood Wasps deal both upon contact and with their attack.

They spawn regularly from the destructible purple hives found in Shellwood when Hornet is nearby, starting with a maximum of 2 wasps out at once and increasing to 3 once the hive drops to 16 health. Once their hive is destroyed, 1–2 wasps will continue to respawn around the area of their hive.

Act 3

Black-threaded Wood Wasps have their health doubled. They can gain any of the standard void attacks.

Trivia

Wood Wasp is an alternate name for Horntails, a real life species of sawflies.
Pollip Hearts are dead bodies of Wood Wasps, consumed by the purple plant from which the Pollip Hearts are dropped.^[1]
