Mnemonid
The coldshard, even when destroyed it remembers its former shape. A remarkable material, and perhaps even more astonishing there seems life contained within it.
Mnemonids are enemies in Hollow Knight: Silksong. They are flying creatures able to reform after being destroyed, because the coldshard they are formed from remembers its former shape.[1]
Behaviour and Tactics
Mnemonids float in place, dealing 
on contact. If Hornet approaches, they blink for a brief moment before exploding in a circle of lingering spikes. After a few seconds, they reform in the same location. Mnemonids cannot be destroyed with regular attacks, but count as defeated once they explode.
They are used primarily for traversal via Needle-bouncing or the Clawline.

- The 1.0.27535 and 1.0.27776 versions of Silksong playable on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch respectively, which are older than the PC launch version (1.0.28324), have the word "iceshard" instead of "coldshard" in the journal description.[2]
- The Mnemonid's name is derived from the term "mnemonic", which refers to things related to memory.
