All Cogheart Pieces in Hollow Knight Silksong and where to find them

Looking for the Cogheart Pieces in Hollow Knight Silksong? They're all hidden away in the depths of the Citadel, locked behind bell memory puzzles. You'll almost always need to fight your way past scores of enemies, traps, and hazards to reach them as well. Finding them is worth the trouble, especially if you want to reach Act 3 and see Silksong's true ending.
In this guide, you'll learn where to find all three Cogheart Pieces, as well as the solution to their bell puzzles. Beware that most are at the end of the progression path in the zones where you find them, so don't expect them to be easy to find.
Where to find the Choral Chambers Cogheart Piece
The Cogheart piece in the Choral Chambers is technically the first you'll have access to, provided you completely clear the area when you first arrive. Our walkthrough goes into great detail about how to do that.
The piece itself is located in the far west of the Chambers, a bit above the Ventrica and northwest of the Citadel Spa. You can get there via navigating the area or by traveling east from The Slab, whichever comes first. You're looking for a room on the left side of the tall chamber on the Citadel's westernmost end.
To get the Cogheart Piece, you'll need to solve a bell memory puzzle by correctly hitting the indicated bells across three sequences. If we number the bells one through seven from right to left, the correct order is:
- First sequence: 1-5-4-6.
- Second sequence: 3-6-5-1-7.
- Third sequence: 2-4-6-3-5-1.
Enter all three sequences correctly, and you'll be rewarded with the Cogheart Piece. Thankfully, the whole process doesn't reset once you solve one of the sequences. It merely resets that sequence, so if you've solved two, you won't need to start from scratch.
Where to find the Whispering Vaults Cogheart Piece
The second Cogheart Piece you're likely to find is near the end of the Whispering Vaults progression path, in a side chamber near The Stage where you fight Trobbio. However, you can't reach it via the Stage. Instead, you'll need to come down from the Songclave in the upper-right portion of the Choral Chambers. You might also reach the Vaults via the Underworks if you arrived there via the Exhaust Organ.
However you reach the Vaults, you're headed to the bottom of its tall central chamber, specifically the room on the bottom-left. There, you'll need to solve the bell memory puzzle by correctly hitting three sequences of ringing bells.
There are seven bells here, as with the other puzzles, and we're numbering them one through seven, going left to right. With that in mind, the correct order is:
- First sequence: 1-2-7-4.
- Second sequence: 7-5-6-4-5.
- Third sequence: 2-7-3-5-6-1.
Get the three sequences correct and you'll be one step closer to a full Cogheart.
Where to find the Memorium Cogheart Piece
The Cogheart Piece in Memorium is technically the easiest to find, but you will need the Faydown Cloak double jump to even reach the area, so "easy", in this sense, is relative.
To reach the Memorium Cogheart Piece, travel east as soon as you enter the area, past all the big enemies, and, after you grab the map on the ground floor, take the next right-hand passage above you. There, you'll find the memory puzzle.
The layout of the bells is a bit different this time, so we'll be listing their order like reading a clock. Bell number one would be at the one o'clock position, and two through six would be in clockwise order from there. That makes bell seven the center bell in the middle of the ring. Knowing that, the correct order is:
- First sequence: 3-1-7-4.
- Second sequence: 7-1-6-7-5.
- Third sequence: 6-2-4-1-3-5.
Where to use the completed Cogheart
After collecting the three Cogheart Pieces, they will instantly fuse into the Cogheart, a mechanical engine used to power the clockwork Second Sentinel. To reach the Second Sentinel, you'll need access to the Clockwork Core beneath the Cogwork Dancers boss fight, then travel to the passageway on its western edge.
Provided you have the double jump, you can reach the inert Sentinel by jumping up into the opening above the spinning gear hazard, then traveling as far to the right as you can go.
You can then place the Cogheart inside the Sentinel. Hornet and the newly awakened machine will have a brief conversation, then it will depart for parts unknown. Expect to see it again on your journey.
