Hollow Knight Silksong: What does Curveclaw do?

Wondering what the Curveclaw does in Hollow Knight: Silksong? The Mottled Skarr, a secret seller in Hollow Knight: Silksong, has a few items for sale that are not immediately identifiable due to some linguistic differences with Hornet. One of these is the Curveclaw, which is actually a very useful Tool - but alas, you've got to pay 140 Rosaries to figure out what it does. Hollow Knight Silksong: What does Curveclaw do?

The Curveclaw acts as a boomerang. Classified as a Red Tool, it's an arc-shaped projectile that Hornet flings outwards. It has 10 uses from the getgo and can be refilled at a Bench for the cost of 50 Shards.

While it's decent against all enemies, when utilised against flying bosses like the twin Moss Mothers in Weavenest Atla, the Curveclaw is extremely useful and worth keeping in your arsenal until you can unlock a more potent projectile like the Silkshot.

How to get the Curveclaw

To get the Curveclaw, you'll first need to locate Mottled Skarr, a friendly ant who's more interested in selling wares instead of trying to kill Hornet. Mottled Skarr can be found in a secret room in the northern tip of Hunter's March.

To reach this area, you must acquire the Drifter's Cloak. Getting the cloak first requires you to defeat Hokers for the Seamstress and finish the Flexile Spines quest.

Once you've obtained the Drifter's Cloak and can float to your heart's content, use it to ride the air current upwards in the long vertical room in the centre of Hunter's March. There's a cave to your left that you can enter; inside are ropes with Shards attached to them. Slash the left wall a bunch of times to reveal a chamber where the Mottled Skarr lies in wait.

Once you reach Act 2 of Silksong, Mottled Skarr will unfortunately meet a sad fate and no longer be alive to sell you wares. However, you can still get the Curveclaw. Simply use the Cling Grip to wall jump upwards to the room above Mottled Skarr's usual resting place. There will be several hostile Skarr within this cave that you need to defeat, but once the gauntlet is over, you can pick up the Curveclaw.
