Evacuation Procedures Walkthrough
Evacuation Procedures is the second Main Story mission of Control Resonant in the Contain the Crisis chapter. Now that you’ve been given the grand tour of everything you should know about the game, your next task for the FBC is to go to the Evacuation Site and search for the source of the tremors. This walkthrough for Evacuation Procedures includes instructions on how to reach the Evac Site and locate the source.
Use these links to jump to the section you need:
- Reach the Evacuation Zone
- Find the Source of the Tremors
- Locate the Survivor
- Get the Survivor Out Alive
Reach the Evacuation Zone
First things first, you should explore the inside of the Field Office for collectibles and other goodies. Check near the pillar by the stairs on the left side (when looking inside from the entrance) for a Wardrobe.
Resource Box Location
There are two Resource Boxes in the Field Office. The first is next to the table in the center.
Check next to the table with the tape recorders for the second one.
Look on the table near the entrance for the collectible: Supply Distribution Check List.
Reports on Defeated Resonant Entities
You can read reports on Resonant Entities you defeat in Control Resonant in the Field Office. Investigate the table on the left side of the room (when looking in from the entrance) for the reports. At this point, you will have at least one report — on the Artist — to read: Field Research On Resonant Entity: RE-ZD.
Instant Photos - Freeze Frame Side Quest
Investigate the desk next to the Resource Crate for two Instant Photos. These photos offer clues on where you can go to unlock and continue the Side Quest, Freeze Frame.
For the mission, you first must head to the Evacuation Zone and, when there, find the source of the tremors. Open the map to view these two checkpoints. The Evacuation Zone Checkpoint is to the southeast. Head that way when you're ready to begin.
Now that you have a level 1 security keycard, you can enter and explore the Field Hospital and the Security Station outside of the office for more collectibles.
How to Unlock the Panopticon Service Request Side Quest
When looking at the map, you may have spotted an icon for an Important Person near the Field Office.
To find him, head east from the grounds outside the Field Office and approach the blue structure near the wall lit by a yellow light.
This is the Field Panopticon. Speak with the man named Langston inside, and he'll ask for your help, unlocking Panopticon Service Request. Near him is a collectible: Langston's Beat Poetry #27.
Leave the security checkpoint, ignoring the rude guards, turn left, and follow the street until you spot a sign that points you to the Evacuation Zone. Follow the sign to the large wall. Enter the blue door on the left side.
Continue down the street until you're pulled into an Arena Encounter, this one introducing a new (and frankly annoying) Hiss type: Hiss Clusters. These floating balls of resonance heal nearby Hiss enemies. Target these first whenever they appear in a fight.
The fight unlocks a new ability: Dominance.
How to Use Dominance
Dominance is a status you earn after Executing an enemy. When active, the status increases your Primary melee damage by a whopping 100% and your Secondary melee damage by 50% for a short amount of time. Killing enemies while Dominance is active also increases health drops.
As a suggestion: an ideal way to get Dominance activated as soon as possible is to increase the Falter damage on a regular Hiss enemy and execute them, activating the buff. Afterward, you can use the increased melee damage on Hiss Heavy enemies. Rinse and repeat when the buff dissipates.
You can also find orbs of Dominance in the world. Grabbing one automatically applies Dominance.
Clear the Arena Encounter to unlock the passage to the Evacuation Zone. Enter the Evacuation Zone Checkpoint and make your way through the hallways.
Inside the checkpoint, you'll find a collectible on a table: Formal Complaint.
Find the Source of the Tremors
It's dark and a bit misty on the other side of the wall, showcasing how Zones can feel thematically different.
Check the nearby table for a collectible: Sinkhole Transcript.
How to Unlock the Evacuation Zone Map
Before continuing, you should locate the Mapping Pylon and get the map to the Evacuation Zone unlocked. To start, open the map and locate the Map Kit icon near the center of the zone.
First, you'll have to climb over the imposing wall separating you from the rest of the Zone.
Make your way over the wall by first climbing on top of the smaller building opposite of it.
Leap from the corner to the building with the floodlights.
Climb to the top and clamber over the rail to reach the top of the wall, where you'll find a frightening-looking sinkhole.
As Dylan calls Zoe, a massive tremor rocks the Zone, surprising him.
You can Report on the sinkhole to learn more about the anomaly.
Stepping past the sinkhole, you can look toward the Evac Site and report it to Zoe.
Drop from the wall and onto the streets below.
As you arrive, you'll likely be attacked by a new Hiss variant: Hiss Transporter. These rather bizarre Hiss enemies are tanky, but offer good rewards on defeat.
Hiss Enemy Type: Hiss Transporter
The Hiss Transporter is a Hiss enemy type in the shape of half a city bus that spawns multiple minions called Hiss Passengers to attack its prey. These enemies have large health pools, but contain specific weak spots you can exploit.
Look on the sides of the bus for clumps of Hiss enemies. This is called a Breakable Part — in other words, a weak point. Attack the Breakable Part until it's destroyed to deal heavy damage and Falter to the enemy.
The Hiss Transporter teleports around the area, so keep an eye out for it after it disappears. Try to fight the bus while in the air, as its ground attack deals splash damage and burn. Continue the fight until the bus is destroyed. If you max out its Falter, you can execute it in a frankly cool way.
After the encounter is over, continue east until you arrive at a spot near the Map Kit. Look toward the line of buildings on the north side of the street. You must climb to the rooftop to locate the pylon. Use the overhang near the newsstand and leap across the gap to the lift and then clamber onto the building.
On the rooftop, you can find an Orientation Point and a Fast Travel Door.
Activate the Main Street Fast Travel Door
There's a Fast Travel Door on the rooftop near Main Street in the Evacuation Zone. Climb onto the building on the northern side of the street to find it.
To unlock the map, you'll need to locate the three Sensors near the Mapping Pylon. From the rooftop near the Fast Travel Door, you can spot one close by to the east.
Look across the street to the northwest to see the second on on a rooftop. Search for the blinking red light!
The third Sensor is to the north across an alley on another rooftop.
When all three are active, turn on the Mapping Pylon to unlock the Evacuation Zone Map. It's a small area, but there are plenty of places to explore.
With that done, continue southeast to the Evac Building. It's red and twisted on the map.
Vendor Location
Vendors are shops where you can exchange Source for materials and other items. There's one near the Evacuation Zone Mapping Pylon. To find it, leave the Mapping Pylon and go east over the rooftops and drop into the alley behind the buildings.
There, you'll find an Orientation Point and an... Ice Cream Truck. If it has one of those freaky, half-melted-looking cartoon mascot heads, we’re in business!
Interact with the truck to enter the Vendor menu. Each Zone contains a Vendor to locate.
Large Resource Crate Location
There's a Large Resource Crate you can find near the Evacuation Zone Mapping Pylon. Head east from the pylon and drop into the alley behind the buildings.
Next, look behind the Vendor for the Large Resource Crate. Open it for x1 Health Upgrade Point.
As you approach, you'll enter another fight against a group of Heavies. Kill these ones to remove the barricades to the street-level stores.
When you get the chance, you should investigate the stores along the street for things like collectibles and Resource Crates. You can also find a puzzle to solve in an art gallery, which leads to an impressive reward.
You'll find an embarrassment of Hiss Heavies outside the door to the Evac Site. This can be a challenging fight, so you should take your time and try to pull as many enemies from the main group as possible and kill them before taking on the next.
You can approach the door after all the enemies are dispatched. Unfortunately, the doors are locked with a Hiss Barrier by two Hiss Nodes. You must follow the red trails in the air to locate the nodes keeping the doors shut and destroy them.
Resource Crate and Collectibles Locations
You can find two Resource Crates in small buildings outside the entrance to the Evac Site. Enter the building next to the row of flags and look for the crate in the corner.
Check the shelf for a collectible: PR Video Screenplay.
The other Resource Crate can be found in the suspended yellow building closer to the Evac Site.
Head inside and look for the crate to the right of the blue lockers.
Investigate the inside of the building for collectibles:
- x2 Instant Photo
- Daily Comms Log
- PR Guidance Re: Patterned Subway Tunnels
When you're ready, look up to spot the red trails in the air. You can pick either one to follow, but this guide will begin with the one to the north.
Where to Find the Northern Hiss Node
Head north and climb onto the first set of buildings. From there, you should see a rooftop nestled between two taller buildings where the thread stops.
Armored Enemies Explained
From here on, you will run across armored enemies. These foes have a layer of protection you must destroy to begin damaging their health.
Armor is weak to Blunt damage, which you'll have thanks to your first chosen Combat Ability. If you picked Crush as a secondary Aberrant form, it'll also be very useful against armored foes.
Enemies are surrounding the Hiss Node, so you'll have to clear them out before getting close. When you're free, leap across the street to find the Node on the rooftop. These creatures are weak and cannot fight back, so you can wipe it out without much effort.
Return to the front of the Evac Building and prepare to search for the next Hiss Node.
Where to Find the Southern Hiss Node
The next Node is to the south, which you can see by following the second thread as it snakes its way toward some grim area emitting red light.
The Node is in a section behind tall buildings, and getting to it from the blocked part of the street may be a bit tricky.
Instead, turn right at the intersection before the barrier and then climb onto the building with an attached lift on the left side of the street.
From the top of that building, you can look into the alley below to see the thread disappearing into a storage area locked with a shutter. The rooftop of the building you're on also has an inactive Power Core and its cable is leading to the shutter. You'll have to power it up to access the Hiss Node.
Resource Crate Location
Look west from the inactive Power Core Station near the northern Hiss Node for a rooftop with a Resource Crate.
Before doing that, however, you should clear all the enemies in the area, focusing on the Hiss Clusters that heal surrounding enemies first.
When you're done, return to the roof with the Power Core. Look toward the rooftops to the east and head that direction.
From the roof, look down onto the street and to the left to spot activated Power Core Stations attached to an obelisk.
Drop to the street, dash to the Power Cores, grab a charge, and follow the same path back to the rooftop with the inactive Power Core Station.
The shutter raises when the Power Core is activated. Drop down to the ground and destroy the Node to remove the barricade on the Evac Building.
Enter the Evac Building
Return to the front of the Evac Building, now free of the barricade. Pass the Orientation Point and head inside.
Check the storage box in front of the FBC van near the building entrance for the collectible: Mission Notes 1.
The lobby of the building is a grisly scene, with FBC rangers dead and scattered. As you make your way inside, you can look at the body in the center of the hallway and make a report to Zoe.
Continue forward and stop when you arrive at the front desk. There's an elevator to the left for you to take, but you can explore the room for some goodies. There's also a Wardrobe sitting in the corner if you have an itch to change the fit.
The blue table next to the front desk has a collectible sitting by a lamp: Evacuation Pamphlet.
Resource Crate Location
Between the Evac Building's front desk and a level 2 security door is a Resource Crate.
Level 2 Security Door
Next to the front desk of the Evac Building is a level 2 security door. You don't have access to this level of security yet, but you should keep the door in mind for the near future.
FBC Terminal Location - World Feat
The front desk contains an FBC Terminal that, when activated, connects Dylan to a mysterious agent with a questionnaire.
Completing the questionnaire is optional. Doing so rewards you with x1 Aberrant Shard, x1 Mourning Echo, and Source. The mini-game counts as a World Feat, which unlocks the Up to the Task achievement/trophy.
Enter the elevator and press the button for the 12th Floor. Zoe reaches out as you ascend, telling Dylan that she's been reading his file and isn't a fan of what she's found. A tremor suddenly rocks through the building, and Dylan momentarily flashes back to the time the Hiss invaded the Oldest House.
He returns to the real world as the elevator doors slide open, telling Zoe that his sudden lapse was from bad memories. Leave the elevator and activate the Orientation Point.
Next, follow the hallway to the left of the elevator. More bloodied corpses are strewn about, suggesting that these agents had it rough.
Continue down the bloody hallway until you reach the next room.
Enter the blue-lit room on the left side of the hallway and search one of the desks for the collectible: Sound Bath Sterilization Study.
Complete the Arena Encounter
As you enter, you'll spot a mass of Hiss enemies ranging from grunts to Heavies. All the exit doors are blocked by Hiss barriers, meaning you'll have to complete this Arena Encounter before you can continue.
The arena is a multi-floor section covered in enemies. Try to lure the Heavies away from one another, if possible. Taking on too many at once could be too challenging.
If you need health, you have two options. You can either look for Hiss grunts to kill or grab one of the several large Health Elements — keep an eye out for large, blue orbs!
Some of the enemies can walk on one of the walls of the room, making it so you'll have to leap toward them if you want to get within attacking range.
The barriers fall after all the Hiss Heavies are gone. Look on the second floor for a doorway lit by a bright blue light. That's where you want to go to continue the mission.
Zoe reaches out again as you travel down the hallway, asking how many people died, referring to the incident everyone in the FBC hints at when their anger or fear of Dylan is apparent. You get the chance to respond with three answers (or just silence). As before, it doesn't matter what responses you choose, as they won't alter the mission.
Walk onto the wooden scaffolding outside of the next room's window and turn right.
Leap over the gap to the scaffolding covered in blue tarp.
From there, look out and down from the gap to spot a ledge. Drop down and air-dash to reach it.
There's more scaffolding to reach out in the dark, but you can pause here for some goodies.
Resource Crate Location
After reaching the scaffolding with the blue tarp after the first Arena Encounter, walk to the ledge near the next bit of scaffolding, turn right, and enter the open window.
You'll find a Resource Crate in the corner.
Check the desk in the room with the Resource Crate for the collectible: An Internal FBC Comms Department Letter.
Leap over to the next platform, stop, and turn around to see another platform against the back wall. Jump over to it and turn around.
Run and leap from that platform over to the opening bathed in yellow light.
Enter the next room and look left for a Large Resource Crate.
Large Resource Crate Location
After the platforming across the scaffolding, enter the next room to find a Large Resource Crate next to the door. Interact with it to get x1 Health Upgrade Point.
As you enter the next hallway, you're suddenly back in the Oldest House as Dylan, aka P6. Head forward, following the agents until they get trapped by a security door. The memory ends as you approach them.
You return to Dylan as he's standing in a hallway with Hiss-infected civilians. Enter the next area and activate the Orientation Point.
There's another elevator to take, but it's blocked by a Hiss Node. The red thread is passing through a locked door.
Look along the side of the wall for an open doorway and head inside. Progress through the room and then enter the hallway. Follow the red thread to find the Hiss Node.
Check the table under the posters for the collectible: Mission Notes 3.
Destroy the Hiss Node to free the elevator.
Resource Crate Location
In the corner next to the Hiss Node is a Resource Crate.
Head back to the large room, where you'll be attacked by a Hiss Heavy and some drones.
Hiss Heavy Type: Hiss Distorted
The Hiss Distorted is a floating-type Heavy enemy that can become nearly invisible. Attacking the foe breaks it out of its camouflage. Avoid its powerful breath, which fires out like a cone. These enemies will try to avoid combat by hiding, so watch for them where the air is distorted.
Enter the elevator and press the button for the 15th Floor.
Explore the 15th Floor
536. That's the number of dead reported by the FBC when the Hiss attacked the Oldest House, while Dylan was still a part of the flock. During the elevator ride, Dylan tells that to Zoe, showing he knows how devastating the attack was.
You once more enter Dylan's memory of seven years ago. Progress down the hallway, where FBC agents are fighting Hiss. Progress until you reach a door, where you return to the present. Zoe asks him what kind of person he is before ending the conversation. This section rewards you with Source and x1 Distorted Form.
Progress until you reach a red-lit room lined with cots and populated by floating bodies.
Check the desk near the wall for the collectible: Mission Notes 4.
On the cot next to the door is another collectible: A Note to Mom.
Continue into the hallway, where the tremors cause another memory. This time, it's of Arish grilling Dylan after the incident that left 536 people dead. You can respond, but it's garbled nonsense.
Locate the Survivor
Continue after returning to the present. You'll finally discover the tremors' source. Keep pushing against the force of the tremors.
After a tremor, Dylan again returns to his past, this time in a linear sequence with him in his current look.
Progress through the FBC building a short way before returning, where you enter a large room full of Hiss-captured civilians: the source of the tremors.
Push forward and you'll see someone off in the distance. Soon, Arish can be heard. Keep moving to find the FBC Co-Director.
Interact with Arish to start a conversation. He asks why Dylan was freed, and you'll get the chance to respond. Feel free to pick whichever options sound best.
Arish agrees to leave with you after the conversation. The injector fluid keeping his mind from being taken over by the Hiss is getting low, which means he needs to be rescued right now.
Get Arish Out Alive
Return to the elevator. Unfortunately, the doors are jammed, but Arish knows a trick to get them open. Press the button to get the elevator moving.
It stops before descending, and the doors open to reveal a Hiss Node keeping you grounded. Jump out and take care of the Node.
More threads appear, meaning you'll have to leave Arish to take care of things. But first, you can speak with Arish, who hands you a Level 2 Keycard.
Exit the elevator and follow the red trail to a nearby door with a Level 2 security lock. Use the card to open it and head on out.
Follow the thread to the large room from before. Drop down and kill the Hiss Node. After the short vision, you'll return to the present in the midst of another Arena Encounter.
Zoe reaches out after you clear the encounter. She reports that Arish was found alive, which means he made it down and out of the building. Zoe says she doesn't care about his past, as his actions have shown enough.
You can respond to this. Feel free to pick whichever option you think is best, as it won't change the mission.
Zoe tells you that your next goal is to return to the Field Office to speak with Arish. But first, you'll need to leave the Evac Building.
Resource Crate Location
After getting the Level 2 Keycard and clearing the final Arena Encounter, look for a locked level 2 door on the top level of the arena room.
Open it and head inside to find a Resource Crate and a collectible: Mission Notes 2.
Return to the elevator and take it back down to the lobby. From here, you can exit the building or go investigate that level 2 room from earlier. You have to be a little curious, right?
Resource Crate and Arcade Cabinet Location
You can find a Resource Crate and an Arcade Cabinet behind the locked Level 2 security door in the lobby of the Evac Building. Unlock it after you get the Level 2 Keycard from Arish.
How Arcade Cabinets Work
Using SHUM III Arcade Cabinets let you play a "unique, replayable challenge" that results in rewards based on how high you get on the leaderboards. You cannot use an Arcade Cabinet until the Zone it's in reaches a particular level. Each Zone has an Arcade Cabinet to discover!
Reach the exit to end Evacuation Procedures. The next Story Mission is Arish's Briefing.
