Urban Survival Walkthrough

You can encounter the Urban Survival Side Story as you explore the Evacuation Zone in Control Resonant. It’s one of the more involved pieces of optional content up to this early point in the game, asking for both exploration and combat in equal measure. It’s not difficult, per se, but will take you more time than previous Side Stories you might’ve done. Here’s how to complete this one.

How to Complete Urban Survival

To start Urban Survival, head to the southwest portion of the Evacuation Zone, marked by the note “Unauthorized mines?” on your in-game map.

There’s a parking garage there and you can find a report on a box just outside it. Pick up and read the Investigation Order to start Urban Medicine, then head inside the parking garage.

Head down the ramp into the garage, take a left and proceed until you reach the far wall, then take another left. On your right, to the east, will be another ramp leading back toward street level with a checkpoint at its end.

When you’re back at street level, turn east and keep going until you see another doorway laden with mines on your right.

Go inside the building guarded by the mines and turn left. You’ll be told to halt by a survivor, who you can speak to at the intercom next to the door with the yellow light and camera above it.

You’ll need to defeat a small wave of Hiss enemies to prove to the survivor that you can handle yourself, and then he’ll direct you to find his loved ones Olivia and Granny. Olivia is at the gym, and Granny is back at the survivalists apartment.

Where to Find Olivia

The gym, Pulse Fitness, is in the central part of the Evacuation Zone, heavily guarded by Hiss. Clear them and head inside.

The first door on the left is a gym staff office, and inside you’ll find Olivia. Who happens to be a potted plant. Grab “her” and you can start making your way to the survivalist’s apartment.

Where to Find Granny

You can find the survivalist’s home in the northeastern section of the Evacuation Zone, north of the building spewing spooky red light. You’ll need to enter the apartment building from the roof. The entrance is just east of the “Show Them Who’s the Boss” sign.

Make your way down the stairs to the lowest accessible floor with the elevator, and enter the apartment on your left.

Granny (or Granny’s ashes, in this case) is in the southwestern corner of the apartment in her urn. Pick up the urn as you did with Olivia the Plant, and return to the survivalist.

Place the two items on the table next to his door, and then he’ll have one more request for you: find his brother and have him and the survivalist reunite.

How to Find the Survivalist's Brother

Before you can reach the survivalist’s brother, you’ll need the keys to his apartment, which are in the survivalist’s car. The car is in the far north of the Evacuation Zone, near the Railway Street Station.

Head north until you see massive walls of blue mold. You can use the survivalist’s key fob to make his car horn honk until you find it in the large crevice made of blue mold on teh eastern side of the area.

Make your way west from the car, past the Railyard Street fast travel door and the semi loaded with girders, until you can see the apartment building entrance on your right.

Open the door and take the elevator up. The brother’s apartment is the first door on your left. Inside, you’ll find the brother, who’s unfortunately fallen victim to Hiss corruption. All you can do is pick up the picture of the brothers together and return it to the survivalist for your reward.

For your trouble, you’ll receive the Untapped Heart Monitor Artifact, which prevents death and immediately restores 20% of your HP one time, plus the Plate Carrier M1 cosmetic. And the survivalist’s gratitude. Speak to him again and he’ll unlock his side room, where you can find a basic material crate.
